Don't be so angry, Charles. I still had no time to try your contribution
but I will for sure, and I appreciate your work and your willingness to
contribute, and also I don't feel hurted if someone decides not to
publish the sources of his work, but still makes it available to others
for free. Maybe sources could be supplied after a
subscription/contribution. I don't see anything wrong in that.
I tried to do a similar thing with a collection of functions. I wanted
to share the lib but was not ready to release all the sources (mainly
because the code is a bit messy, but also I wanted to be sure that some
programmers, after having tried it, wanted to cooperate to the
development and not just exploit my work without even say thank you).
People here is used to have "everything for free", this is probably one
of the reasons for xHarbour at the end had to go out of business... ad
Viktor Szakats abandoned after his reasonable request for a
contribution, after having made a big work on Harbour to bring it to
version 3.4. I don't know.
For sure we programmers (hobbyists apart) ask for money to our
customers, and I remember to have paid for Clipper 5.2 and Clipper 5.3
(and also for other tools).
So, don't think that everybody here sees the world through the same
lens. The more vocals of them have spoken, but the silent majority dont.
Here in Italy there is a nice proverb: more or less in my basic English
it sounds "A single tree falling makes more noise than an entire forest
that grows up"
Peace,
Dan
