Hello all,

I have a long established Harbour app for scoring sailboat races. I've always run it under Windows starting with Clipper S87, then Clipper 5.2, and now Harbour. It runs very well. I've compiled Harbour in Linux Mint and have it running in a terminal; this also runs well.

In Windows I use Harbour's GT system (GTWVT) which gives me a resizable window. I'm trying to do the same thing in Linux using GTXWC but with no luck. I'm following the instructions from a Post by Antonio Linares » Sun Mar 17, 2019 10:57 pm:

In harbour/src/rtl/gtxwc: (X11 GT driver)

gcc -c gtxwc.c -I../../../include
ar q libgtxwc.a gtxwc.o
ranlib libgtxwc.a

I get no errors when doing this. Then, following the further instructions:

To use hbmk2 with gtxwc: (from harbour/tests)
../bin/linux/gcc/hbmk2 hello -gtxwc

This does not generate any errors but just returns to the terminal prompt. No window opens the display "Hello World." I know X11 is running because I can run xclock or xcalc just fine. As usual I'm probably missing something obvious. Has anyone else got this to work? Thanks in advance for any help.

it works fine (Xubuntu) but the terminal is immediatly closed. To avoid this, try this :

---------------------------------

function main()

clear screen
qout("Hello !!!")
inkey(0)

return nil

---------------------------------
and build like you've done ...

A+

That's interesting, thanks much for the help. It works fine and works with my program as well. I always enjoy hours of troubleshooting something that's already working fine ;-) Linux is good at confusing me...

Now, the rest of the project...
