Can I use version 3.2 for production or do I have to stick with 3.0?

Hi clipper6,

> Can I use version 3.2 for production or do I have to stick with 3.0?

You can if you are very (repeat: very) careful.

1. Follow the discussions on the developer list and read the commit
messages. This is crucial. The nightly build, as well as any checkout
from SVN, is a work in progress. On a random day it might work
perfectly, or it might have a horrible bug that crashes your client's
data, or something inbetween those two extremes. So you have to pick the
right moment when you feel that it is stable.

2. Download and test.

3. Sit on the downloaded version for a while, and keep following the
developer list while you do. If bugs are reported and/or fixes commited,
goto 1. You can of course ignore bugs in contribs you do not intend to
use and fixes in extras and tests.

4. When you are confident that the version you downloaded does not have
any bugs that will affect your applications, then you can go on. Be
aware that there may be incompatibilities between 3.0 and the latest 3.2
that you may have to work around.

5. Keep following the developer list and the commit messages.

The last month or two there have been tons of cleanup commits that make
the commit messages a heavier read than normally. If you feel that it is
too much to read every day, then I suggest that you wait a while until
it slows down a little.

Regards,
Klas
