As we wrap up the cookie season this year, I'd like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to all of you. Each and every one of you made this year a huge success! Here are some numbers, so you know how we did:
Last year:
2714 cases sold (32,568 boxes) - not including gluten free
$20,158.61 earned by our service unit
45 troops selling cookies
This year:
3098 cases + 9 boxes (37,185 boxes) - not including gluten free
$22,892.54 earned by our service unit
42 troops selling cookies
Difference:
384 more cases this year
4608 more boxes this year
$2733.93 more money
That's almost a 12.5% increase, done with less troops! Wow!!!
I also wanted to say thank you to all of you for getting your paperwork in. I was able to turn over everything last night with all troops accounted for. That was a great feeling!
I have learned a lot this year, and now that I kind of know what to expect, next year will be even better. I have made LOTS of notes-to-self as we went along, and if all goes according to plan, I won't lose those notes and I'll be able to implement all suggestions and ideas as appropriate. :)
A couple of things before I end my last email for a while (hopefully):
- Your final ACH debit will be taken out of your accounts as soon as Council reconciles all of our paperwork. That could take a few more days, but your money should already be in your account (especially if you have checks that need to clear).
- Recognitions are scheduled to be here in April sometime - that's about as specific as I can get at this point. I am assuming they will come to me - if that happens, I will let you know as soon as I get them and we can make arrangements for you to get them asap.
- I'm looking for some booth feedback. If you did booths, would you mind shooting me an email letting me know which booths did well and which were duds? It might make sense to keep the ones that are big sellers and dump the ones that are a huge waste of time, but I need your input in order to do that. I'll add your information to my pile of notes-to-self (see above) and hope I don't lose them before next year. :P
- If you have ANY leftover cookies you can't sell, PLEASE add them to the cookie sharing spreadsheet. Also, if you added information to the spreadsheet and things have since changed (you sold some cookies, you have more, whatever), please update it. We need an accurate list of what's left so we can try to come up with some creative ideas to sell them and/or offer them to other service units. We can't help you if we don't know you need help or if we don't have accurate information, so PLEASE check out the spreadsheet and make sure any information you have on it is current! The link to that spreadsheet is here:
Finally, I just want to say that even though there were some stressful moments, I really did enjoy doing this, and I hope all of you had a good experience, too. Thanks for being patient with me as I tried to learn the ins and outs of the cookie business. :) I'd like to leave you with one final thought:
