Anybody out there know how to access a roster of Missouri Pacific steam engines around 1947? I just got a wonderful photograph of a Mo Pac steam engine number 1512 taken in 1947 and I would like to find more information about this engine. I am not well versed in these engines. Looks like a 2-8-2.

Colias covers the 2-8-2 Mikados in 22 pages in chapter 4 of MoPac Power. The Mike was the primary freight mover for MoPac and were received in three separate orders. The neat thing about this railroad is the they rostered nearly every configuration of motive power throughout its history.

I don't have a MoPac engine roster, but the Missouri Pacific Historical Society is fairly active at mopac.org and they may be able to hook you up. The archives are stored in St Louis and they are slowly being digitized. You may want to query the MPHS forum if someone has rostered the engines by year.

The Insty-Pac is designed with punched orifices and is maintenance-free. The header/separator is designed to remove condensate before it enters the tubes. The tube-within-a-tube design means the desired steam jacket is only hot during a call for humidity, eliminating additional unwanted heat gain when no humidification is required.

BFS Industries deaerators from our ZER-O-PAC line are available in three types: spray, tray, and pack column types. We are the only deaerator manufacturer that makes all three types, giving you the most flexibility in your standard or custom designed system.

In the spray type unit, water is sprayed into a pressurized steam atmosphere (first stage deaeration) in order to preheat and partially deaerate the incoming water. The water is then directed to the scrubber (second stage deaeration), where the water is violently scrubbed to remove the final traces of oxygen. The steam acts as a carrier gas, to expel the removed oxygen out the deaerator vent. The deaerated water is then ready for use by the boiler, at saturated temperature and with oxygen levels at .005 cc/liter.

The tray or spray/tray deaerator is our most versatile and rugged deaerator unit. It is offered in a range of 3,500 #/hr to 2,000,000 #/hr and higher. This unit can handle severe load swings, varying inlet water temperatures, and changing operating pressures while maintaining deaeration efficiency. It is typically priced higher than the other types of deaerators in a given size range.

In the tray type unit, water is sprayed into a pressurized steam atmosphere (first stage deaeration) in order to preheat and partially deaerate the incoming water. The water then cascades down through a series of stainless steel trays, while the countercurrent steam flow scrubs the remaining traces of oxygen out of the water. The steam acts as a carrier gas, to expel the removed oxygen out the vent. The deaerated water then falls into the horizontal storage section and is ready for use by the boiler, at saturated temperature and with oxygen levels at .005 cc/liter.

In the packed column unit, water is sprayed into a pressurized steam atmosphere (first stage deaeration) in order to preheat and partially deaerate the incoming water. The water then cascades down through a vertical stainless steel column filled with stainless steel packing material, while the countercurrent steam flow scrubs the remaining traces of oxygen out of the water. The steam acts as a carrier gas, to expel the removed oxygen out the vent. The deaerated water then falls into the horizontal storage section and is ready for use by the boiler, at saturated temperature and with oxygen levels at .005 cc/liter.
