Hello All,

I am unable to run Maven configuration using my Eclipse IDE hosted on my Mac. It keeps on failing with the message that it is unable to parse a maven enforcer plugin file (see message below). There has not been any change to my Eclipse environment, my Maven project, my Maven configuration or my POM file. This was working fine 3-4 months back. Yesterday I cleaned up my entire repository  (under $home/.m2) folder along with files under it and after that I am getting this error. It appears the maven download process is encountering issue. My eclipse plugin (m2e) uses version 1.10. I know it is a maven related issue but any help will be greatly appreciated

You might try deleting your local maven repository directory once more.. Sometimes Maven downloads corrupted POM files from Central due to server issues on their end. I wish it would detect this and not save them to the local repo, but it does....

Cheers,
James

I have tried several times cleaning the repository manually and running my maven install from Eclipse and keeps on failing all the time with the same message. Most likely my issue is related to the maven processing when invoking from Eclipse. I even tried with the latest Eclipse (4.13) which has m2Eclipse ver 1.13 and it gives the same error. With my new environment I do see the 3.0.0-M2 maven enforcer plugin jar downloaded which also has its pom.xml file. So the process that parses the pom file seems to be returning the error.

Regards,
Vikas

What is the contents of the following file (assuming the error message remains the same):
/Users/XXXXXX/.m2/repository/org/apache/maven/plugins/maven-enforcer-plugin/3.0.0-M2/maven-enforcer-plugin-3.0.0-M2.pom

Given the error message, it really points to a corrupt POM file. It's even got some sort of failure indicator in it..

The downloaded .pom file for 3.0.0-M2 maven enforcer plugin had this in the URL: https://searchassist.verizon.com. The Apache support folks confirmed that the request is being rejected because of the proxy configuration which is coming into play as I am connecting from home using Verizon fios. Today I used my Phone hot spot instead of the Verizon fios connectivity and everything worked fine confirming the analysis done by Apache support. At this point in time my issue is resolved but this can happen with anyone using similar setup as mine. An alternate resolution to this issue is to configure the proxy server configuration details in the maven configuration settings.xml file which I will try next.
