It's hard to say what's causing your specific issue with just the information here, but HAPI FHIR 4.2.0 is 3.5 years old at this point so I would recommend upgrading either way. There have been all kinds of improvements to the library since then.

I'm fairly new to HAPI FHIR but I am trying to investigate a performance issue we're having. There is a client who is, in batch, calling our API causing a large spike in performance. We found that much of that time is occurring during FHIR validation. I noticed looking at newer versions that version 5.0.0 had a big update to the validation architecture. Does anyone know if upgrading (currently at 4.2.0) would make a significant difference here? Has anyone encountered a similar issue before?

Thanks!

Are there any kind of metrics/numbers out there showing how HAPI FHIR's performance has improved with the newer versions? This may be the way we go, but I'd like to get a better understanding of what sort of performance improvements we could potentially see.
