TheChekist (Russian: Чекист) is a 1992 Russian-French historical drama film directed by Aleksandr Rogozhkin, based on a 1923 short story by Vladimir Zazubrin. It tells the story of a bloody work and downfall of a Soviet Cheka security official involved in mass executions during the Russian Civil War. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival.[1]

The terrible conveyor of death operates in the basement, overseen by Srubov: the prisoners are systematically taken out of their cell, ordered to undress, placed against the wall in fives, and shot, usually in the back of the head. Following the secret killings, the naked corpses are then dragged by feet through a special window in the cellar, loaded into a truck, and taken away, to forever disappear without a trace.

Srubov, a young man from an intellectual family, philosophically talks of the historical necessity of extermination in the service of the Bolshevik Revolution. He is highly organised, dutiful, ruthless, and absolutely loyal to the cause. Eventually, however, pangs of conscience become so unbearable to Srubov that, after his own father is shot by his Cheka comrade and personal friend Katz, he experiences a nervous breakdown and is committed to a mental asylum. Medical examination reveals a stigma in the shape of a bullet scar on the back of his head. In a sequence ominously similar to the executions, he is ordered to undress, placed against the wall, and sprayed with water from a hose.

The Chekist was adapted by Jacques Baynac from Vladimir Zazubrin's short story "Щепка" (known variably in English as "Sliver", "The Splinter", or "The Chip"), which was written in 1923 but has remained unpublished until the Glasnost era in 1989 when it was printed in the journal Sibirskie Ogni. Zazubrin, a former Bolshevik infiltrator of the Okhrana and veteran of both sides of the Civil War, himself fell victim to the Great Purge and was himself arrested and executed in 1937, along with Valerian Pravdukhin[2] who wrote the preface for the original intended publication.[3][4][5]

Piers Handling, director of the Toronto International Film Festival, said of the film: "Rogozhkin eventually penetrates into the psychotic mind of the Chekist with a moment of sublime insight, reminiscent of Bertolucci's equally disturbing portrait of the fascist killer in The Conformist. The Chekist is an overwhelming cry in the face of such madness."[6]

welcome and congratz - i too have a 92 warrior. yes you will want to read the manuals, also some important areas of concern will be, condition of tires, tires may look "new" but age is a better indicator. you can check the VIN, to see if your rig has had the head gasket replaced. depending on miles, you may need a valve adjustment. you will get to know more about your rig as time goes on. maybe have a qualified mechanic go over your rig and inspect things like brakes, front suspension, exhaust system, etc. please know that this forum is populated by extremely talented and knowledgeable people. with any question you have, someone here will offer helpful answers, suggestions, or insight. so good luck and enjoy your rig. joe from dover.

There's a good mechanical checklist pinned near the top of the engines section of this forum. My mechanic and I used it as the starting point when he worked on the '87 Mini-Cruiser I bought last month.

Relax only about 1,000 things to check and most of it does not need to be done until tomorrow One thing that you might want to put on the list is sanitizing the fresh water holding tank and the supply hose.

I'm happy to see you found this forum. I found it to be the most helpful place for my questions. Forum members, he bought this from me. It was a little hard to let it go but since my wife's health is not the best we would never use it again. I gave him my maintenance receipts including the head gasket recall change and tire sales receipt.

Wenfeng, anytime you have questions please call, text or email me and I will do my best to help you. One thing I already remembered I forgot to tell you. In the cabinet over the table is a plastic tray with some items in it. There is a small bag with some small black O rings. Be sure and save them. They are spare replacements for the water tank drain valves. You will use these valves when you winterize the RV.

I would like to publicly apologize to Mr. Chang. He was the first to respond to my Craigslist add but another buyer showed up unannounced with cash in hand and put Mr. Chang in the position of having to make a instant decision to buy the RV. His test drive was on his way home with it. This was a tough decision for me because the other buyer offered more than my asking price. I'm glad my sense of right prevailed over greed.

Trust me your questions won't sound stupid. All of us here have at one time been new first time owners and had to learn all the ins and outs of using an RV. Your great advantage is you bought from another member who took good care of his RV. Your already ahead of the game

No apology needed and you have every right to do which way you feel comfortable. It almost bring me to tear when I heard you keep your promise and selling it to my family. We pray on this whole process before I came over. It is until that time I realized what we are praying for and we are glad you make that decision too.

I did the same thing- read a ton. Then flew out of state to drive one home (unless it had been other than advertised). The previous owners were very honest with me. And it drove home through 6 states just fine. And while they showed me a lot about how it works, I'm still finding this and the facebook group to be invaluable and answering my questions. Happy travels!

Trading cards have a history of tying in with different things. We see it most often with food-issue releases and other oddball sets. But what about a laser show? That was the inspiration of 1992-93 Stadium Club Beam Team, one of the most popular basketball insert sets of the early 1990s.

The Beam Team became synonymous with Stadium Club. It stuck with the brand, reappearing several times over the years and branching out into other sports. But none are as popular as the one that started it all, 1992-93 Stadium Club Basketball.

Once collectors got hold of the cards, the perception changed. Rather than the boring designs and cheaper feel of the previous couple of years, 1992 Bowman went bright and glossy. It was a much needed reboot of the reboot and, after some initial trepidation, the hobby took notice.

Although some cards in 1991 Bowman have limited foil, it is much more apparent here. Team USA players and MiLB Players of the Year got the foil treatment. These cards have borders that use a textured foil. These land one per hobby pack and two per jumbo.

A lot of the photo choices are memorable, but sometimes for their strangeness. This particularly comes through among the prospects who are shown in their casual clothes. More than that, you get players leaning up against trunks, hitchhiking and pretending to play catch with a ghost while sitting on a park bench. 1992 Bowman Baseball is not lacking in character.

Trevor Hoffman is another Hall of Fame closer with his only RC in this set. He may not have nearly the same level of star power as Rivera, but his Cooperstown induction gave a lot of collectors respect for his card.

Manny Ramirez and Carlos Delgado make up a strong second-tier crop of Rookie Cards. Other notable RCs include Garrett Anderson, Troy Percival and Cliff Floyd, complete with an Air Jordan-esque dunking pose.

Another lasting impression of this set is how well several second-year cards have fared. Chipper Jones, Pedro Martinez and Jim Thome are among those who have Rookie Cards in 1991 sets. However, those cards are so massively produced that supply still outpaces their Hall of Fame credentials. In all three of these instances, their cards here hold comparable values or even stronger in some cases despite not having the coveted tag.
