Information on Accessibility Features

  • The full list of accessibility features embedded for all students and accessibility features that need to be identified in advance can be found in the NJ Accessibility Features and Accommodations Manual..
  • Answer masking, color contrast (background/font color) and text-to-speech for mathematics and science, are available for all participating students who need these tools, but need to be identified in advance via the Personal Needs Profile (PNP).

The interaction has been updated to a more common design that aligns to the standard interaction used by screen reader users. Now, when students navigate into a multiple choice field, the radio button given focus by the Screen Reader will automatically be selected. Students can use the space bar to remove the selection.

A screen reader is a software application, separate from text-to-speech embedded in TestNav, which conveys web content through audio. Screen readers are appropriate for students who are trained to use the software and who use it in the classroom, including those who are blind or have a visual impairment.

Varsity Tutors connects learners with a variety of experts and professionals. Tutors, instructors, experts, educators, and other professionals on the platform are independent contractors, who use their own styles, methods, and materials and create their own lesson plans based upon their experience, professional judgment, and the learners with whom they engage.

Students may perform better and with less anxiety if they are familiar with the format of the test and with the types of questions they will be required to answer. However, please note that test preparation is only useful to the extent that it is also teaching content area knowledge and skills. Therefore, the use of test preparation resources is of limited value to students due to the narrow opportunity for content learning. It is very important to ensure that teachers are teaching to the curriculum and not to the test, as teaching to the test narrows the focus of instruction to only that content covered by the test.

The Forward Exam Practice Test online provides students the opportunity to interact and become familiar with the testing system. Students practice using the tools available on the Forward Exam and familiarize themselves with how to maneuver in the system and work the different types of questions they will encounter. All students should be given the opportunity to utilize the Forward Exam Practice Test prior to actual testing. The Practice Test is not scored, and the online versions do not save responses.

The Practice Test contains samples of stimulus and test questions similar to those on the Forward Exam. Each sample test question has been through a rigorous review process by DRC, Wisconsin Educators, and a third party, to ensure alignment with the State Standards. These questions will not be used on the state assessment and may, therefore, be used in Wisconsin for professional development and student practice. The questions are a sample of the content and types of questions that students will encounter on the Forward Exam. Each question contains information about alignment (standard measured), answer key, depth of knowledge, and specific annotations.

The PDF version does not allow for a student to interact and become familiar with the online tools or testing system but does contains samples of stimulus and test questions similar to those on the Forward Exam. The PDF version of the practice test does contain an appendix that provides information such as: the answer key, alignment to a Wisconsin Academic Standard, depth of knowledge, and annotations.

To access released items from the computer-based tests: View the released items using the ePATs (electronic practice assessment tools) at the MCAS Resource Center. A released-item answer key is provided for each ePAT.

Visit the MCAS Resource Center to access practice tests for ELA, Mathematics, STE and Civics. These practice tests are an important tool for familiarizing students with MCAS test formats and item types.

These resources support the practice and training tests for the CAASPP and ELPAC. Do not use any of these scoring guides, PFAs, DFAs, or performance task rubrics when administering the summative assessments.

The following are key differences from the operational assessments to consider when using these practice test and training test resources to prepare for the Initial Alternate ELPAC and Summative Alternate ELPAC:

For the Alternate ELPAC, test examiners have the ability to use picture cards during the student's test administration. Picture cards are a resource used for students who communicate using picture cards or an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device. These picture cards should not be substituted during operational test administration. Print or upload the picture cards to the student's AAC device as appropriate. All of the practice test picture cards for each grade level or grade span can be accessed via the following link:

Test examiners have the option to use answer choice cards that are available as a stand-alone PDF. Some students communicate using picture cards or answer choice cards. If test examiners do not have standardized answer choice cards for use in the classroom, they may use the answer choice cards accessed via the following link:

The online Sample Item Sets are a select group of test items in ELA, mathematics, science, and social studies that encompass different item types, such as multiple choice, constructed response, and various kinds of technology-enhanced items. The sets provide students, teachers, and parents practice in solving grade-level and content-specific test items aligned to Michigan's academic content standards.

All students in grades 3-8 in Missouri will take the grade level assessment. English Language Arts and Mathematics are administered in all grades. Science is administered in grades 5 and 8. A few groups of students may be exempt from certain portions or all of the assessment. Those include:

The District Test Coordinator is responsible for training all School Test Coordinators, Test Examiners and other responsible district and/or school staff on MAP Grade-Level Assessment processes and procedures. Prior to test administration, test examiners must familiarize themselves with the testing manual(s) and participate in any district created training.

The information in the following Power Point can be used as part of district created training. This Power Point is not a substitution for district created training or for reading the manuals above. District trainings should also include local procedures such as cell phone policy, test schedule, who to contact in the district with questions, etc.
