Muhyadheen Mala is one of the oldest and most popular poems in Arabic Malayalam literature. It praises the life and achievements of Sheikh Muhyadheen Abdul Qadir Jilani, a renowned Sufi saint who is also known as Ghaus al-Azam (the supreme helper) and Sultan al-Awliya (the king of the saints). Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani was born in Jilan, a region in Iraq, and hence he is called Jilani. He is revered by Muslims for his Islamic services and miracles.
The poem Muhyadheen Mala was composed by an unknown author, probably in the 17th or 18th century. It consists of 28 stanzas, each with four lines. The poem begins with a praise of Allah and His Messenger Muhammad, followed by a salutation to Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani. The poem then narrates the various events and miracles in the life of the Sheikh, such as his birth, his education, his travels, his spiritual experiences, his teachings, his miracles, and his death. The poem also invokes the blessings and intercession of the Sheikh for the poet and the readers.
Muhyadheen Mala is recited by Muslims, especially by the followers of Sufism, as a form of devotion and supplication. The poem is believed to have many benefits and blessings for those who recite it with faith and sincerity. Some of the benefits are protection from calamities, relief from troubles, fulfillment of wishes, increase in faith, and salvation in the hereafter.
