This is the notice sent on Dec 4th to Noonie and all. If Noonie ignored it certainly everyone else did too so I have resent it asking the direct question, Is your outside faucet on?

Winter Preparation & Emergency Weather
With the upcoming winter months please check all exterior drains and downspouts to be sure they are free and clear of dirt, leaves, sticks, and debris. Notice your gutters in a rain and report to us if they are not flowing nicely. Those of you with roof decks be aware of blowing patio furniture in the wind.
DCRA has info on emergency preparedness and crisis management; please visit their site at http://rrc.dc.gov/rrc/cwp/view,a,1193,q,445539,rrcNav_GID,1415.asp for more information and tips on being safe during bad weather, crisis situations, etc.
Also, as the heating season approaches, I’d like to draw your attention to your heating system. Check your heat now to make sure it is heating. Technicians are difficult to get later when heat season is in full swing. Also, please do not store anything around the furnace or hot water heater. This is a major fire hazard.
If you have an outside hose bib it is very important to find the inside cut off and turn the water off there. Then go outside and open the spigot so any remaining water will drain out. If you do not do this and the pipe freezes and floods you will be held responsible. If you feel that you can’t do this yourself, please call us to arrange for one of us to help you.
Please push the button to test your smoke detector every month when you change the furnace filter. Your life could depend on them working. Do not disarm them.
Please beware that when it snows, it is your responsibility to clear the city sidewalks and the house stairs and walks whenever there is an accumulation of one inch or more. This is city law. These are just some of the important points, but please let us know if you can think of anything else that is in need of attention, or if you have any questions or concerns regarding any information noted above.
Thanks very much, we wish you a joyous holiday season and healthy New Year!
Sincerely,
Mary Kay Welch
