this means 180 km flat (6 hours) and 2 climbs (1 hour each)= at least 8 hours biking...
Not impossible, but tough...

My concern is more about the time of departure. Sunrise happens at 5:31. We should start at 5:00 to get as much of the climbs before noon.
We left at about 6:00 on Saturday and we got at the bottom of the climb at 8:30 and it was the same time for me on Friday in Tam Daoi.
So 5:00 - 7:30 + 1:30 to go up, going down is slow as well so 9:30 we would start towards BaVi.... So 12:00 at BaVi gate? No food yet
very hot then. Hoi zoi oi! Lets be more optimistic we were back in Hanoi at 11:00 both days so lets say we'll be at the BaVi gate at 11:00.

How about a happy meal at Mc Donalds

No Klavs!  It is essential to calculate exactly how many KMs the trip will be before we can even begin to think about the insignificant details such as dates and times! I am not satisfied with these vague answers!!!!!

Dear Mark,

Comments duly noted and apologize for the lacking in planning.

I will see if I can hire a Xeom drive and have him do a trial of the route with my GPS tracke……..

Cheers

Hi,

Sunday 28 April is OK with me, weather forecast too….

Vincent I appreciate your concern for the 200K trip – it is free to decide waiting for you and Claudio at the foot of Ba Vi or perhaps just climb ½ way…..

Looking forward to a yet another great adventure

Hi Klavs,

The concern is for us all , about getting into the climb when it is hot so in that respect Saturday displays more acceptable temperatures!?
I still believe we should start as early as possible. I got some rehydration powder.... might as well get an umbrella and some cooling agent.

Is anyone ready for a tour de BaVi? Early hours are pretty cool.

If we take it the shorter way and go for an early start it comes down to 160km and about 6 hours.

Guys

I am equally fine with a 100k round the Dong Mo Lake (no mountains) in 3.5 hours on Sat morning if Craig or anyone is keen. If not I will go and do the BIG ONE with Vince and Klavs.

I propose that we decide the route that captures the most votes, that way we get as many as possible for Vincents last ride before his hols start.

For Saturday, so far we have :

1.       180km Ba Vi (big climb)

2.       100km Dong Mo (no climb)

3.       80km Shrine (small climb)

Any thoughts?

Richard, the tour of BaVi is going around BaVi. We wont climb it and it is 160km  the short way strait to Son Tay
and on to the Song Da, Ky Son and back to Hanoi!

Let's do it the Swiss way which (no not my way) would be a compromise. The Dong Mo seems to be a good one in terms of distance. I actually was thinking
of Johan if he had been able to ride on Saturday since he doesn't know the tour of BaVi and is leaving Vietnam all together. We can always do that one later on.
Let's meet at 5:30 at Veggies to give a good chance to everyone.
