One main bit of news and some extra updates...
We have a Hannah Frank stall at Glasgow's Country Living Christmas Fair this year for the first time. It runs from 17-20 November at the SECC.
Organiser, Country Living magazine, says that the fair will be a “four-day festive extravaganza of quality and craftsmanship.”
We will be among 300 artisans, craftspeople and independent retailers from all over the UK. Come and visit us on Stand E58a, right in the centre. I'll be in Boston that week (!) but the stand will be ably managed by Tim Street, who's been a Hannah Frank fan for many years and proved his worth by assisting me at the Glasgow Autumn Trade Fair in September.
Our main aim is to introduce our Hannah Frank notelets. These are A6, half the size of the A5 frameable cards, and come in packs of six assorted images. There are four different sets normally costing £5.99 each. However at the fair they are on sale for £5.00 each, and if you buy a complete set of all four packs, you get a fifth pack free. They make great gifts and if you're lucky you'll get a set tied with black ribbon which looks very festive (if a little funereal). We hope to get lots of new Hannah Frank fans at the fair with these lovely new notelet sets.
Hannah Frank Prints will be on offer at two for the price of one for the duration of the show, and the beautiful book 'Hannah Frank, A Glasgow Artist' will be on sale at £15 instead of £21.50.
And - special update - all being well, and depending on delivery from the bronze casters on time, we hope to have TWO SCULPTURES on sale at the show:
Bird Woman 1969, p 133 in 'Hannah Frank A Glasgow Artist', on sale at a special price of £1995, and
Seated Figure 1973 , p144 in the book, on sale at £1800.
It costs £9.50 to get into the fair (!) but we have 20 FREE TICKETS to give away, valid for Thursday, Friday or Sunday entries. If you'd like one or two (2 max!) email me with some friendly words and I'll post them out to the first people who get back to me. If there's a tie I'll choose the nicest words!

There will be two Hannah Frank sculptures going for auction at McTears on 1st December - a beautiful
Pensive Headfrom 1973, p142 (Auntie Hannah used to use this as a hatstand!) and
Standing Figure 1 from 1959, p120 in the book.

Just a little personal update: I'm pleased (ecstatic actually) to announce that after rather a lot of years I finally submitted my PhD ('"An outsider wherever I am?" Five Generations of Scottish Jewish Identity') in August, had my viva in October, and passed with minor corrections which include having to trim rather a lot of words. I'm not a Dr yet - that has to wait till I submit my revised thesis - but hopefully I'll be graduating in July at the University of Strathclyde. And shortly after submitting, I was successful in being appointed as part time Project Worker on the Being Jewish in Scotland project funded by the Scottish Government and run by SCoJeC, the Scottish Council of Jewish Communities. The project runs through to June next year. They were very happy to find me, as you can see by their press release here . I am still partly based in Lancaster (mainly because the Cohousing Project that I've been involved with for the past six years is due to be completed next summer), but am in Glasgow at least part of the week. The job will soon involve travelling all round Scotland, snow permitting, so if you're in a remote part of the country and would like a personal caller please get in touch as I may well be visiting YOU in the next two or three months!
Temporary order delivery slowdown
I'm going to be in Boston at the Social Science History Association conference, and working on my thesis corrections at Brandeis University, from 17th November to 1st December, so there may be a delay in posting out any orders. HOWEVER during December, for sharp-eyed readers who have read this far, I would be happy to offer the same deal on prints and notelets as I'm giving to Country Living fans: so if you'd like two for the price of one on prints, or notelets post-free and five for the price of four sets, just email me with your requirements and I'll let you know how to order. Orders received by Monday should be sent out this week, others may be delayed till early December.
many good wishes
