HandyBackup8 not loading

I run HB 8, and it ran fine until recently. Now, it won't load at all. I get the message "exception message: Can't start server service" upon first starting the program. When I try to run it again, I get the splash screen, then nothing, and it is not loaded. I tried shutting down all virus and firewall protection, uninstalling, then downloading the latest (8.1.0) from the handybackup.net site and re-installing. Nothing works. I'm stumped.
