Iknow I would need to go through everything linked with my hotmail account and put in my new email address, but I want this account to be linked to xbox account as well. I dont want to lose everything tied to the hotmail account.
I have read the your post, and it is correct that you cannot combine accounts. However, you can merge them. Merging Outlook accounts means that you will combine the data from two or more accounts into one account. This includes your emails, contacts, and calendars.
A primary email address in Microsoft 365 is usually the email address a user was assigned when their account was created. When the user sends email to someone else, their primary email address is what typically appears in the From field in email apps. They can also have more than one email address associated with their Microsoft 365 for business account. These additional addresses are called aliases. You can create up to 400 aliases for a user. No additional fees or licenses are required. This article is for Microsoft 365 administrators who have business subscriptions. It's not for home users.
For example, Jenna at your organization has the email address
je...@contosoco.com, but she also wants to receive email at
j...@contosoco.com because some people refer to her by that name. You can create aliases for her so that email sent to both email addresses go to Jenna's inbox.
If you need help with the steps in this topic, consider working with a Microsoft small business specialist. With Business Assist, you and your employees get around-the-clock access to small business specialists as you grow your business, from onboarding to everyday use.
The user will now have a primary address and an alias. For example, all mail sent to
je...@contoso.com, and her alias,
j...@contoso.com, will go to Jenna's inbox. When the user replies, the From address will depend on her Outlook client. Outlook on the web will use the alias at which the email was received. Outlook desktop will use her primary email alias.
Your users can now send from their aliases when using Outlook on the web. When the Set-OrganizationConfig -SendFromAliasEnabled $true cmdlet is set, users within the organization will get access to a list of checkboxes where each entry corresponds to an alias in their Outlook settings. Selecting an alias will make it appear in the From dropdown in the Compose form.
If you get this error message it means that it's taking a bit longer to finish setting up your tenant, or your custom domain if you recently added one. The setup process can take up to 4 hours to complete. Wait a while so the setup process has time to finish, and then try again. If the problem persists, call Support and they will do a full sync for you.
If you purchased your subscription from GoDaddy or another Partner, to set the new alias as the primary, you can't set the new alias in the Microsoft 365 admin center. You must go to the GoDaddy/partner management console.
Tip: To get features like spam protection and email categories for non-Gmail accounts, tap Try Gmailify. You can also get Gmail features for your other email accounts.
Important: When you choose this option, your connection to your email service isn't encrypted. This means that someone might find the username, password, or message information of your added account.
On my initial attempts, I got some failures to configure. After trying a few options, they are now configured in Mac & iOS. However, the emails are occasionally acting a bit wonky, such as duplicate emails showing up &/or messages of failure to download.
Mac has the options to configure these as Exchange or Other. iOS has the options to configure these as Exchange, Outlook or Other. (As mentioned above, some of these options failed to configure, but at this point I don't recall which ones.) What should I use to fix my issues?
I have both those email accounts on my Apple Mail app and they work just fine. Before starting with this, delete the accounts you have already created that are not working, first. Then, when you set them up, choose, "Microsoft Exchange" as the option for both your Outlook and Hotmail accounts. In Mail settings click the Accounts tab then the '+' button. The parameters are then setup automatically for you as long as you enter the proper credentials (username/email address and password). Don't modify any of the settings. Just use all the defaults.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand you're experiencing some issues with Mail and some of your accounts. If they aren't currently working as expected, we would want to try removing those accounts and then re-adding them as this can help resolve unexpected Mail issues. The resources below can help with these steps.
Are your two emails created within the same Microsoft account? That is what I have. For example -
a.hotmail.com is the email also used for the microsoft account logon and the
b.outlook.com email was added to that account as another email. I used the method described on microsoft website to create additional emails on an account. If they were from different accounts, I could see how the above problem would go away. But, my understanding is I shouldn't have to do that.
Are you also using these same emails with iOS devices? I also put these emails on my iPhone & iPad. They are both showing a - "Cannot Get Mail, The connection to the server failed" - error. It appears that the Outlook email (only) is failing to send from the iOS devices, but both emails are being received on these devices. Other than the double-counting of the microsoft emails on the Mac, it's able to send/receive both.
The specific issue is with configuring & managing external email alias's on Apple devices. There are some helpful articles on this out there. Using those, I have made progress on this subject. In order to provide clarity on the precise problem and the new questions, I am going to enter a new question to the forum.
I read that revealing your age in your email address isn't in your favor when you're job hunting. Is it possible to change from one email address to another WITHOUT opening a new account and deleting the old one (i.e. [email protected] to [email protected])?I was researching, but I couldn't find any information about it.
When I signed up for my Hotmail email account I used a custom email address. As a consequence, I never received a "real" Hotmail email address. While I was able to create Hotmail aliases, I could not really use all the features associated with an account on the site as I used the third party mail address only to verify the account.
Yesterday I started to look into the issue more closely to figure out if there was an option to create a new Hotmail email address from within an existing account. It took some digging through Hotmail's page layout to find the page where new email addresses can be added.
Locate the Options link in the top right corner and select the more options link from the context menu. This opens the main account control panel where you can configure the majority of account related settings. Click on account details under managing your account. Hotmail may ask you to enter your account password again before the next page is displayed.
Click on the your email addresses link under other options. This opens a page listing all linked email addresses and aliases. A click on add an email address allows you to create a new Hotmail or Windows Live account, or to link a third party account to the Hotmail account.
You can use Outlook to move emails from your Office 365 account to an alternative email provider (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) In order to move your emails, you first must have both accounts configured in Outlook.
You can use Outlook to move emails from your Office 365 account to an alternative email provider (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) In order to move your emails you first must have both accounts configured in Outlook (Mac).
You can use Mac Mail to move emails from your Office 365 account to a different email account such as Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc. In order to transfer emails between two different email providers, you first must have the email accounts configured in Mac Mail.
Using a Microsoft email does not limit you to Microsoft Office. One of the many great reasons to use Google Docs is the ability to access its hundreds of great add-ons. Users of the Yet Another Mail Merge add-on can configure their newly connected Microsoft account to be used for emails they send.
If you've changed your primary email address and are no longer using Hotmail, you may be thinking of permanently deleting a
hotmail.com email address. In this article, we provide an easy-to-follow instruction that will help you along the way.
Hotmail.com email addresses are owned by Microsoft, so your Hotmail account is a part of your Microsoft account. This means that to delete a Hotmail.com email address, you'll have to delete your Microsoft 365 account that is associated with this address.
After you request to close your account, Microsoft will not delete it right away. Your account will be deactivated first and you will have 30 or 60 days (depending on your choice) to re-open it in case you change your mind. This helps prevent fraudulent activity and protect your account.
