Besides that; Avast and Malwarebytes has stopped me (thank god) from entering malicious and suspicious websites many many times. So I find avast a great tool. Would windows defender do the same? Would it have stopped me? It seems I will indeed have to uninstall and install avast again trying not to give it the management of my firewall at least. All the other tools seem and sound amazing (protection from hackers etc. I know they sound more fancy than they actually are but whatever).
After resetting everything and clean-reinstalling GW, things seem back to normal again. But i can see the same behaviour - if i block an app and remove it from GWs firewall list, it still remains in the windows firewall as Glasswire.app.out/in.XX
I find Glasswire very difficult to understand and use. When I go to settings/privacy etc. on my windows 10 piece of junk there is NO OPTION to stop sending activity to Microsoft as all the articles say there is. There are only options to clear history ie. my email.
The exact same thing happens when accessing this address from one of my wifi connected windows computers. I can see it when connected by Hughesnet but not when connected by Verizon. Even worse, the exact same thing happens when using my android phone. All this makes it appear it's all something to do with the Hughes network.
Since you're a network guy, please tell me this. Why is it the offending page still can only be seen when using any of my Hughes connected devices while it's still unavailable when connected to the internet through Verizon? This includes four windows computers and an android 13 phone.
How can this happen? It's an android phone. It connects to this miserable facebook system page just as simply and easily and identically as my three wifi windows computers and one ethernet computer which aren't even networked together anymore. No cross contamination in the computers. The only thing in common is Hughesnet.
GlassWire has a free trial and a free version that you can explore. Its pricing plans are quite affordable. But this network firewall security software lacks a phone or chat customer service option, which many customers see as a turn-off. However, their email support option is excellent. They respond very fast. Currently, Glasswire is not available for Mac, but we believe they are working on that. Glasswire windows firewall is an app you should try using. A trial will convince you.
Glasswire is a piece of software that puts your computer back under your control with its security and monitoring features. Spyware and malware are a horrible plague on the internet, and your computer may accidentally download one while browsing the internet. While your default firewall by windows does an acceptable job, it lacks the transparency that Glasswire provides. With this software, you can tackle problems head-on and boot unwanted users off of your connection.
All of this seems to have started yesterday when MWB pulled down 45.3GB (according to glasswire) It appears to have started between 6 and 9pm Monday evening (15.1GB during that time period) up from 2.8MB from 3pm to 6pm.
