Hi all-

We had some great submissions of programs and volunteers in response to our original request.  The deadline for submissions is March 31st.   If you have a program that was started and continues to be supported by volunteers or you have a volunteer that has quietly supported your organization either through the years or always there in a pinch, please let us know.

The Athens Banner Herald will be featuring these programs and volunteers throughout the month of April!

Here’s the original message for those that are unaware of what I’m talking about:

HandsOn Northeast Georgia with the support of the Athens Banner Herald are launching a new campaign to celebrate National Volunteer Week April 17th-24th.

As part of this campaign we would like to spotlight some of the change that has occurred in Athens because of volunteers.  These spotlights will be featured on our website and some will be selected by the Athens Banner Herald for spotlight in the paper.

What this means for you:

1-      If your agency has a program that exists because volunteers helped to get it start it and continue to support the maintenance of the program.  These can be large or small.  The main thing is that if it weren’t for volunteers this program wouldn’t exist at your agency!

2-      We all know the movers and shakers that create lots of change in our community, but many times there are volunteers that we have come to rely on to keep the organization running, whether it’s a volunteer that has dutifully served your agency for years or it’s a new volunteer that is your go to person to make things happen we want to know who they are.   We all know that without these volunteers our organizations would grind to a halt!

If you have a program or volunteer that fits either of these descriptions, please send me a note with the name of the program or volunteer and a brief paragraph of how this program or volunteer has created change in our community.   Please include contact information for the program leader or volunteer.

We will follow-up with you to get more information if needed.

Please consider the environment before printing this message.
