The benefits of chanting Aditya hrudayam stotram are countless. However, to mention some from the Phalstuti part and the stotram, it mainly helps you to be victorious in your works by the bliss of God Surya.

Lord Rama had a great battle with intelligent demon Ravana. Getting exhausted and not still able to kill ravana is the cause of worry of Lord Rama. He was into deep thought and Rishi Agastya observed Him.

All the Gods, Goddesses and sages come along to see the war and end of Ravana. Ravana has caused harm to Gods and sages. Thus they were standing in the sky and watching. When the war was going on like never ending war, Lord Rama was thinking the solution. Rishi Agastya who was with other Gods came to Lord Rama and said

Oh my dear powerful Rama there is a solution for your worry. Listen to a perennial secret. How you would be victorious in this war. Rishi agastya was a revered Vedic sage of Hinduism. He saved humanity and helped Gods many times. He in himself is the God. All the mantras, stotras and wisdom are known to Rishi Agastya. Lord Rama is very dear to Rishi Agastya, so he came forward to tell the solution of ending the war.

Rishi Agastya here introduces the Aditya Hrudayam Stotram saying that this holy stotra which is the heart of the essence of Sun is the solution of your worry. Chanting the stotra will destroy all the your enemies, makes you victorious and everlasting glory.

५. सर्वमङ्गलमङ्गल्यं सर्वपपप्रणशनम्
चन्तशकप्रशमनम् आयुर्वर्धनमुत्तमम्

Here Bhagwan Agastya glorifies the supreme prayer of Sun God. He said reciting this stotra will always give happiness, destroy all sins, worries, anxiety, promote health and eventually increase the longevity.

One who is the full of bright rays, who wakes up in the sky is the Sun God. He is the one who is worshipped not only by devas but also by asuras. Everyone in the universe pray to him because he is the ruler of all worlds and lord of the universe.

He is the soul of all gods, all Gods are within Him. He is the brightest among the bright and sustains all worlds of Devas, Asuras human and all creatures of all the worlds. Sun is the said to be the essence of the world because if there is no sun there would be no life. He is the base of life. His rays are the life sustainer.

From trinity to the lokpal, Aditya represents all. As we know Trinity are the Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh and they create, preserve and destroy the universe. But Aditya represents all because he contains the aura of all the Gods.

१०. आदत्य सवत सूर्य खग पूष गभस्तमन्
सुवर्णसदृश भनुर्हरण्यरेत दवकर

He is the son of Aditi (Aditi is the mother of Gods) and hence called Aditya. As he is the brightest one, so with his with supreme light he rules the world. Travelling in the sky and possessing bright rays he nurtures the world. Golden colored, always shining, he is the creator, nurturer and ruler. The day starts with him and eventually ends too. He is like a Golden egg or womb which signifies the womb of universe, which is the source of creation and manifestation.

१२. हरण्यगर्भ शशरस्तपन भस्कर रव
अग्नगर्भऽदते पुत्र शङ्ख शशरनशन

He is cosmic egg, the source of everything. The one who cools down the heat and bestows heat also. He is the illuminator who is praised by everyone. He has fire within, the son of Aditi who becomes cool (when sets) and eliminates cold.

As we mentioned above about the golden womb, hiranyagarbha represents the same. The womb (garbha) has everything and has the power to create. He cools down world with rain and on the other hand bestows heat. He illuminates the world by his rays everyday as is the illuminator (source of light). Everyone praises him as he is the life giver and sustainer. He who has fire within himself is the son of Devi Aditi and Sage Kashyapa. When he sets he becomes cool. He is the destroyer of the cold.

Aditya (Sun) is the lord of the space (sky), dispeller of darkness. He has mastery over Vedas; Rigveda, Yajurveda and Samaveda. Heavy rains caused by him as he is the friend of the water God (Varuna), He swiftly courses in the direction South of Vindhya-mountains and sports in the Brahma Nadi.

Aditya has mastery over all the vedas, he rules the sky and dispels the darkness and negativity. Because he has friendship with the water God (Apam mitra: Varuna), he is able to cause heavy rains. In ancient times Vindhya is known as the southern mountains and aditya courses in the direction towards Vindhya mountains. They are one of the oldest mountains.

He is in the spherical shape produces lot of heat feels like the death. Yellow Golden in color he gives heat to all things. He is the poet pervades in whole universe with great radiance and red in color sustaining all the activities and existence.

The verse describes more qualities and form of aditya. It says Aditya is circular in shape, red and yellow colored with the immense heat within Him. He produces more and more heat and sustains the world with his heat. Life is based on the heat. When we die our bodies become cold, no heat. This the Aditya is one who is residing in all of us and entire universe to make us alive. On the other side he is the death (mrityu). His heat is too much that it can destroy, hence here He is stated as Death. He is highly radiant, shining and dear to all.

He is the Lord of constellations (Nakshatra), planets (Graha) and stars (Tara). As well as the origin of everything in the universe. Salutations to Aditya who is the energetic than the energy and appears in twelve forms.

He is the Lord of universe because he is the originator of each and everything. He gives energy to everyone. All the nakshatras, planets and stars are ruled by him. Also we know he is the center of planetary system, he holds the system and maintains them moving rightly. We salute to the Sun God who manifest in twelve forms as the 12 months. His twelve forms are the 12 adityas which are also considered as Vedic Gods. They are Indra, Dhata, Bhaga, Pooshana, Mitra, Aryama, Archi, Vivaswan, Twastru, Savitha, Varuna and Vishnu (in shape of twelve months of the year).
