Thenostalgia of chalk meets functionality with the Market Chalkboard menu. The individual chalk boards can be stacked on top of each other or side-by-side so you can design a menu to suit your space.
This menu lives in the back part of our shop to display specific prices for our best selling product at FORT. We love the old school type-writer font and the texture of the white chalk on the green metal. Easy to initially install and even easier to switch out as our offerings evolve.
Please be aware we source locally and seasonally, so the menus change frequently, and these samples are a guide and may not be exactly what is served when you visit. Read more about our suppliers here. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance. If you would like to discuss an occasion with us further in advance than this, please email [email protected]. Chalk is fully wheelchair accessible, with nearby parking allowing for an easy drop off at the entrance and easy access toilets.
For reservations of more than 8 guests, or booking our Private Dining Room which sits up to 10 guests please email [email protected] for your booking. We do accept walk-ins however we strongly recommend making a reservation for your meal at Chalk. 01903 877845.
Please note that we are a cashless restaurant, so all payment is required on card. All bookings require card details to secure your table, but no payment is taken. However please note we will charge 25 per person for any tables who do not show without a cancellation 48 hours before the booking.
Restaurants, cafes, Dining Halls know that chalkboard menus are a great way to show menus and be able to change pricing. Daily specials and special offers really stand out on a chalkboard. We print your menu directly to a chalkboard leaving space so that you can write on the board in chalk your daily pricing. No messy chalk dust, no smearing and it cleans easily without removing the main menu information.
What's for dinner? Reservations!!! I (like most of us) had to cook for 2 straight years during the pandemic. Meal planning was the worst when everything you thought of had to be delivered. The Mr. said when this is over, you don't ever have to cook again. Bless him. Of course, eating out all the time gets old real fast and we didn't really adopt that idea. But I do have that "deer in the headlights" look sometimes at 5 o'clock. Who me?
Great idea! Now the hard part is the follow through, lol. Let's see, there are four of you so assign one "chef" to each day Monday - Thursday, with the others helping out as sous chefs. Then Friday is pizza night. Sat and Sunday are dining out. Burden of cooking is shared and not too overwhelming. Inexperienced cooks can sharpen their survival skills!
I'm with Jane. You are on vacation and maybe it's time for everyone to take a turn! You can help but not worry about the planning which is the worst. I do plan meals because I'm trying to lose weight but it is tiresome. I feel I'm either in the kitchen cooking, washing dishes or planning for the next meal. You could make a menu ahead so when you get there that part is easier. I find the older I get the less I want to cook. Eating out is getting way too expensive though. Well, I'm sure you will figure the best way for your family
Hilarious! I could see you standing there like Robert DeNiro, saying "You looking at me?!"lol..I'm with my dear dear friend Diana Clark... I say its your vacation too!... take turns...Love the idea of the chalk board...The older I get, the old brain doesn't switch gears as quickly...its nice to have a fall back 'to-do' list to tell us.Keep them coming KariAnne..You put smiles on our faces!
Such a cute picture! Hmmmm, on vacation, I'm with the others....each person picks a night to prepare a meal and then out to eat or leftovers the other nights? It is so hard on vacation to be in the kitchen cooking all the time. Maybe keep it simple with grilled or baked fish or chicken and fun salads. In the past when we have gone on a vacation, where we drive to the destination, I have meals planned beforehand, cooked, sliced, and prepared to pack and take with us. It was minimal prep when the vacation began! But, that is sorta impossible when you fly. ?I love your menu chalkboard! I'm looking for one for my walk in pantry aka mini scullery...heavy on the mini.?I've never had great success with white paint pens. They always seem to spirt out at the most inopportune time. Any tips on how to write with them? Enjoy your time!
Great job, KariAnne, with your chalkboard menu planner! Thanks for all the instructions, too! My hubby is going to make one for my sister & brother-in-law's lake house as a Christmas present this year. That lovely picture of you and your hubby with your twins is beautiful -- and such a wonderful memory especially for today. Hope you all have precious memories of your precious Dad.Enjoy your time at your beautiful Cape Cod home. Bless you all!
Love the crafty board! The family pic is adorable; the girls look so much like you. The hydrangea is really in full bloom!Midwest casseroles are easy one bowl wonders. Sub sandwiches on L O N G French bread and everyone piles on favorite fillings and chop chop, you're ready for dinner and lunch. I'm sure the girls are getting interested in cooking so they take over sometimes. Maybe foreign foods. Pizzas. Salads.Tired of cooking at home? Serve Ludefisk or boiled beef TONGUE with tomato sauce. You'll probably be eating out for the next week.. ..they'll insist! ; )
The board is a cute idea .... but I agree with other commenters, everyone should be pitching in. Meanwhile, a few of my easy-peasy dinner ideas include: a baked potato bar--you can make baked potatoes in the crockpot and then top them with some sort of protein (including beans), cheese, salsa, a cooked veggie, and so on. Here are links to a couple of other crockpot favorites (I love that I can prep things in the morning, when I still have energy, and we can eat them later in the day with minimal other work). -cooker-chicken-pumpkin-curry AND -chicken-bowls/
Love the family pic!Just got home from the Oregon Coast. What a gorgeous ride down hwy 101 from Florence to Brookings, stopping along the way to sleep, eat and shop. This coastline goes from easy access to the wildest beaches and views ever!!! I recomend the visit to our state. Big Hugs
I shaded the backside of the paper with a white water color pencil and then traced it so the white transferred onto the chalkboard. You can also use chalk for this or (aff link) this paper works well too. Hope that helps! xo

Chalk wanted to bring something to Oklahoma City that showcased their love of sports and allowed them to host you as if you were at their home. This first-of-its-kind, locally owned, and sourced restaurant in OKC has over 100 TV screens and provides a delicious menu to pair with a hand-crafted beverage from the bar.
Promote different offers on the same display board regularly by using counter standing chalkboard signs. These signs work well in pubs, bars and restaurants to show food or drink promotions but also work well in retail and can encourage last minute impulse purchases at the till.
You can use standard chalk on this menu chalkboard, but it will also work perfectly with our Chalk Pens and matching Chalk Board Eraser. This sign is designed with two easy clean surfaces which means you can have two offers on at once and switch over your menus and offers regularly.

We worked with Iron Roost, a local gourmet waffle shop located in Ballston Spa, NY, to redesign their hanging drink menus. This video is showing the process for one of the three menu boards that we chalk-lettered for them. After the timelapse was shot there were a few small revisions, then they were hung the boards in the shop.
Nancy Pochis Bank Art Studio was hired by Glenwood Oaks Rib & Chop House in Homewood, Illinois to create two western-style carryout menu boards. Studio artists chose rustic-framed chalkboards with fun old west fonts.
Deborah Brooks from Brooks Restaurant Group in Fresno, California contacted us regarding a new restaurant that they were planning to open in the Summer of 2016. Deborah asked us if we could supply the new restaurant "Brooks Burgers" in Pismo Beach, CA with a digital menu board with a chalkboard look.
