I find that a lot of times people seem to talk about them as if they're bad or boring boss fights just because they aren't a big challenge to overcome. This attitude holds true for From's other games too so it certainly isn't just a DS3 thing.
Now personally I found a good deal of the "gimmick" bosses (Deacons, Yhorm with Storm Ruler, and Ancient Wyvern etc.) enjoyable and even cool features of the game, both when a complete newb and after multiple playthroughs. The settings of their fights were just as majestic as the more straightforward bosses, they still had some kickass music, and I honestly think they serve a muchneeded purpose of giving the player some moments of respite/ego boost when journeying through Lothric.
Not every From boss has to be hard to be memorable, and a lot of times these gimmicks closely precede a rather challenging boss which will test your mechanical skill. Yhorm is an epic opponent even with the Storm Ruler making him a bit of a joke, and toppling him does a great job of empowering you before you are tested by the deceptively strong Dancer. I could go on about the Deacons and Pontiff or the Wyvern and Nameless, but same pattern applies in some form at the end of the day.
You wanted to work on a project your way.
Your boss told you no, I am not assigning you to that project.
You waited until she was out of the office, approached her boss, forced your way into the project (without telling her your own boss said no) and completely changed the way it was running.
In fact I once recommended against hiring a guy who basically told me he left his last job because his boss was incompetent because I thought he seemed pushy and unprofessional. The manager decided to hire him anyway, and he was shortly after let go for being pushy and unprofessional and ignoring what his manager told him to do because he thought his plan was better.
When my dad retired from the air force, where he had been a maintenance control officer, he got his aircraft mechanic license and tried to get a job as a mechanic. He did not want to be the boss any more. He just wanted to work on airplanes and be outdoors (this was in Texas).
It all starts with her birthday and how her boss forgot all about it, oopsie. I did think those friends of her were nice to celebrate + give a make-over, though at times I did think it was a bit harsh. Yes, she looks quite plain, yes, she would rather flatter a guy with her wits and soul, but to laugh at her? No. But holy hell, that make-over. I cannot even recognise her any more. Man. That is one make-over. Magics.
When I first encountered Odolwa... I swear that I almost pissed in my pants. His voice is way too loud, and he doesn't shut up a second! If you don't understand what i'm saying, click here. In my opinion, he is very hard to be the boss of the first temple. His movements are stupid: he can make a ring of fire around Link, attack with his sword, give birth to butterflies (???), jump, and protect himself with a shield. The temple's music is very repetitive, just a loop of some tribal guy (Odolwa?) yelling and bongos.
As for Goht, I can say that it is a veeeeery "cheap" boss. He can only run in circles, shoot lightning bolts, and throw Link in the air. That's all. Trough the battle, stalactites and somehow bombs will fall from the ceiling. To be honest, I don't see any fun in chasing him as a Goron. The temple's music can be even worse than Woodfall's: just some wind and something that sounds like a piano.
The temple's music... it's a nightmare. Sound like a loop of a hammer hitting a metal surface, and you will be forced to hear this so many times that you will go nuts. To solve the puzzles in this temple, you will have to spent your time having to change betwen the Fire Arrows and the Ice Arrows. The minibosses isn't that hard, unlike the rest of the temple.
Twinmold is without a doubt the best boss in the game, but if you run out of Magic Power and Arrows during the battle, it is the second worst boss in the game. Using the Giant's Mask to defeat them is awesome, but unfortunately it costs Magic Power, and if your Magic Meter is short, run to one of the pillars in the desert and break it to get a Magic Jar, but if you run out, use one of the bosses to break the pillar. Walking in the desert without the Giant's Mask takes way too much time, and even worse, if you go out of the boundaries of the desert, you will have to start the battle all over from the beggining. Twinmold attacks are pretty basic, they burrow in the ground and fly around. The temple's musics is pure awesomeness, and unlike the other temples, this one have real music instead of "noises". One of my favorites from the game.
I love the Odolwa and Ghot battles, their easy but so fun!
I can remember being like 11 or 12 the first time I played through MM and all the bosses made me panic a little bit at first seeing them (As any good Zelda boss should) but then you fight them and beat them and get that classic 'I kicked that bosses a**!!' feeling.
Pure nostalgia
Greatbay Temple is so unique that is really hard to not like it. It is also a bit frustrating (like the Snowhead temple), but I like it. The boss isn't that interesting, but still better than the boss of the next dungeon. Ah, the atmospheric theme of this dungeon is gorgeous.
Stone Tower is nice, albeit a bit too hard for my tastes. I like the concept and the music theme, too bad the boss is one of the lamest in the whole series. Why all bosses with "mold" in their names have to be awful?
Woodfall, my favorite of the first 3. Great introduction of the four temples. Made lots of use of the Deku Mask. Great scenery, and I like how the mechanics seem to connect together. Odolwa was one of the best bosses in the series due to the fact the both offers a challenge and there are a variety of ways you can take him down.
Snowhead Temple had a good final boss and some decent puzzles, was probably the most challenging of the first 3, but it overall wasn't very good temple. One puzzle required you to melt all the ice in the first room to get a key. HOW THE HELL WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT!?!?!?
(Really poor design mechanic). Worst temple of the first three.
Woodfall: Very clever usage of a swamp biome to expand on the possible locations for link outside of already established locations from OoT. Interesting creepy music sounds, interesting puzzles, creepy environment, and an awesome boss.
Woodfall- It was pretty easy. The puzzles were fun, the enviroment was creepy, and the boss was awesome!
Snowhead- It wasn't too hard, just annoying at times. Falling all the way down to the basement was very irritating! The stray fairies weren't too hard to find, and Goht was fun! I loved rolling around with him. lol
Great Bay- It wasn't my favorite dungeon but I didn't mind it. It was annoying when you had to go back and change the water. The stray fairies were easy to find. Gyorg was difficult. lol Especially on the first try. After a couple of tries he isn't that bad.
Stone Tower- Probably my favorite dungeon in MM. The music was awesome, the boss was fun, and a very cool layout.
3. Since I made myself look so tough on my last paragraph now your going to hear about the temple I STRUGGLE WITH!!!!!!! I remember after breezing through Snow Head and being excited to fight this boss that I heard about. NOBODY WARNED ABOUT THE TEMPLE!!!!! Great Bay is the hardest dungeon of all Zelda's. I'm not great but I can usually grind out a temple in a few hours not Great Bay. I was confused every step of the way and then after I beat it my buddy asked me to help him with it and we were both confused even though I had already beaten it. Something about that temple always makes me do something in the wrong order.
The dungeons were all pretty well done, both in terms of atmosphere and design, albeit very different to what I was used to with OoT. The music was different, but very atmospheric, going hand in hand with the feel of the game. The bosses all gave me an intense, epic feeling while fighting them. Also, I see a lot of people in this thread saying that MM's dungeons are too challenging. Yes, they are challenging -- but what good dungeon isn't?
Woodfall?
Its a solid first dungeon. Makes good use of the Deku mask abilities. Hopping along water is awesome and being light enough not to wake those chompy flowers. Having to aim your arrows directly at the brazier(s) was a cool thing to throw into a first dungeon too. Mini boss fight was solid. Getting the stray fairies is simple enough with the Great Fairy Mask.
Bow as the prize is nice. Having that as a first dungeon item is pretty in line with tradition.
Odwalla was not a bad boss fight. A little overwhelming for a first boss but certainly interesting. He takes a lot of damage before going down.
Snowhead?
Ehhh...I dont like this place. Its rather tedious due to key placement and its easy to fall off when doing Goron Rolls. The payoff for beating this temple is worth it though. Wizzrobe makes for a great mini boss fight and its hella fun to fry his ass with Fire Arrows.
Fire Arrows as an item is cool. Frying junk, yeah man.
Getting the stray fairies here during your initial visit is really tough. One requires either the Hookshot or a really well placed fall.
Goht sucks. I hate him. Hes a pain and i get tired of rolling all over the place nearly running out of magic.
Great Bay Temple?
O_O Not a fan. Its rather tough and theres a lot going on in such packed quarters. The puzzles here are among the best in the game so thats something. But theres a lot of backtracking that can result in some colorful metaphors being uttered by the player.
Two mini bosses here. The first is really good. Wart is my homeboy and is hella fun to fight. Fire Arrowing his ass is great, watching all the egg things scatter. The frog dude returns and his fight is interesting too. Newly acquired Ice Arrows shatter him, but watch out below!
The item is pretty great. Ice Arrows are kinda kick ass in this game.
Getting the stray fairies is a pain. Worth it, but a pain. This may actually double the time you spend in the level.
Gyorg is a disappointment if you know how to kick his ass readily. But he has a really high damage output. Luckily, the damage it takes for him to die isnt much.
