Follow this simple recipe to create irresistible golden-brown chicken livers with a flavorful crunch. Ideal for appetizers or a hearty meal. Save for later!
Ingredients:
1 lb chicken livers
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup cornmeal
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp paprika
½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions:
Prep Chicken Livers: Rinse chicken livers and pat dry. Soak them in buttermilk for at least 1 hour to tenderize and remove any bitterness.
Prepare Coating: Mix flour, cornmeal, and seasonings in a bowl.
Heat Oil: Heat about 1 inch of oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Coat Livers: Remove livers from buttermilk, letting excess drip off, and coat them in the flour mixture.
Fry to Perfection: Fry livers in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
Drain: Place fried livers on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
Serve: Enjoy warm with your favorite dipping sauce!
Tips:
Pair with creamy gravy or hot sauce for an extra kick.
Use a thermometer to maintain oil temperature for even frying.
