Dear Members,
The working group on National Fibre Policy at its first meeting on 7th
September, 2009, with Ms.Rita Menon, Union Textiles Secretary, in
Chair, has decided to form sub-groups on major fibres, as follows:
1. Cotton
2. Synthetic fibre
3. Jute
4. Silk
5. Wool
6. Other Natural Fibres
7. Specialty fibre (Technical textiles)
8. Specialty (Suvin and Organic) cotton
The sub-groups, with two convenors, and with unknown membership, were
mandated to submit their respective reports within two months. Today
is the last day of these two months. I am not sure if the meetings
have been held, leave alone submission of reports. As per Ms.Rita
Menon, the entire policy development by the Working Group should be
completed by this year-end.
I would continue to update you with information on this.
with best regards
