We are currently considering new tables for our 3 (soon to be 4) octave handbell choir. I'm looking for feedback on the positive and negative aspects of various tables. The tables do get moved around a bit within the church. Ease of set up and moving is important. Thanks, Faye

Rectangular ones!

(Because when you tell a venue you need “banquet tables”, sometimes they give you round ones....)

I agree that the folding banquet tables are a good choice for ease of moving around - but for a sturdy, long lasting table, I like to older "heavy" Schulmerich tables (if you can still find them).  They are a bit taller that the folding tables but they are great for the basses and lower 4's.

We use Schulmerich with adjustable legs.  They work well, are light weight and we have to move them from choir room to sanctuary at least once a month.

Hope this helps.  Good Luck.

My group has declined to the point where we're doing 8 bell music.

No need for tables anymore.  We stand and use music stands.

Unfortunately, no more table damping or bell changes, but they're still having fun.

I have a 4-octave choir.   I just use rectangular banquet tables that are in the building.  three tables, each 8 ft = 24 ft in length does it. The legs fold in to collapse; they do not fold in the middle.

We have the trapezoid tables from Jeffers.  They are light and portable and can be used for different configuration.  We also recently added the rectangle tables they sell for our bass section.

I prefer Schulmerich’s 3’x30” rectangular tables.  They can adapt to different spatial situations much easier than standard banquet tables.  The newer ones have all 4 legs height adjustable.  We use one 6’ long pad for the 5th oct. bass bells with the remaining pads in 3’ lengths.

Happy Ringing!

We ladies hauled 8-foot banquet tables to a few festivals.  Then I saw the Peery portable tables.  We’ve never looked back.  Even if “traveling” doesn’t seem like a part of your bell choir, it could be.  If you can figure out a way to get lighter weight tables (Peerys are no longer available), it’s worth a consideration.
