Is there a central online source (or sources) for researching the copyright status of poetry, as there is for music?  I'm trying to research the Ogden Nash poems for Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens.  The Copyright Office online records don't go back far enough.

Thanks -

Have now clue, sorry - but could not resist a mention of one of Ogden Nash's favorite 'animals':
God in His wisdom, made the fly ----but then forgot to tell us why!

I'm sure his poetry is copyrighted--he wrote this mid-twentieth century, I believe. I found this online:
"For information about Ogden Nash or the use of his works, contact Frances Rider Smith."

Her email address is frs...@att.net.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, Nancy T, appreciate the lead.  IIRC, this falls into the category of works that *may* still be under copyright, if it was renewed.
