Our new fifth octave of bells were dedicated on May 17th on our Music Appreciation Sunday.  Our group played a favorite processional and the beautiful, In Christ Alone (the new bass bells were wonderful!).  The story of the bells in our church was told by our music director, then the pastor gave this prayer which I composed from Silver Woodbury’s prayer, a tiny bit of tweaking and the ending from Ringing True.

Thanks so much, Silver, for helping me get the text for this dedication prayer just right!  You are a blessing to me, Claire Parker

Today we dedicate the gift of these Memorial Bells with this prayer…

Lord, let the notes we ring be Your notes
Let them fall on our ears as celestial music
Guide our hands, our heads and our hearts as we raise our music to Your Glory.
(adapted from a prayer from Silver Woodbury, from whom I have permission to use)

Come Holy Spirit, come
Bless our bells and make them instruments of your peace.
(Peace from Ringing True   Prayers for Handbell Ringers, Linda Stahelin)

Beautiful!  Is it possible for us to use this at any time?  What do we need to do --just give credit to Silver as you did, or to you as well?  What is the ordering number for your Peace from Ringing True--is that a book or single music?
Thanks,
nola stucky

From my side I would say to just use any of this as you'd like. Ask Silver her perspective. She generously gave me free reign.
Ringing True is a lovely book with prayers for all seasons. You can find it at Handbell Supply or probably Amazon. Claire
