Starting a Triplet with a Quarter Note
I don’t understand why anyone would have a problem with that! Of course in 4/4 time or any other duple time, you would of course need to bracket the quarter note with an 1/8 note (or 2-16th notes, etc.). As long as the bracket is there, there should not be any problem! I’m sorry but I don’t understand what the issue is?!

I reply: Once you get through that learning curve you get a whole lot more
than a better way to a triplet!

Come to my Dorico class at National Seminar to find out how easy starting an eighth note triplet with a quarter note is.

Yes, I'm aware how difficult Dorico is to learn. But once you do a lot of things are easier than they were in Finale.

Doug- wow... so glad to hear from you... Even if it is about triplets! I miss our visits over the years!
I have now mastered the Triplett question!! I have just written an arrangement of a spiritual, which calls for a lot of "Swing"! Give and take!
Hope to present it at the "unpublished" session for possible publication at Seminar! Have fun !
