Hi everyone,

The community handbell choir which I drect at my federal agency have been asked to ring during coffee hour at an eent..  This is early morning around 8;30 am and we have half an (half an hour) or 30 minutes to perform.

I know I have at least 6 ringers who are availabe at that time, but I am a bit stumped on repertoire.  We ring mostly level 2 and level 3 music.  So I am looking for music that would be suited to background music and won't take too long to learn.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide!

Addendum to previous email -

We may have only 4 instead of 6.  Only of of them can ring 4-in-hand I think.

All suggestion for repertoire greatly welcome!

12 bell music works well --there's a ton at www.grassymeadowmusic.com, all available for instant download and in a wide range of styles and levels.  Also options available from a wide range of other publishers, as well.

I highly recommend Jason's selections for 8 or 12 bells. They were the mainstay of our playing during the pandemic depending on whether the church let us have 5 or slightly more people together at one time. If you want a richer sound, most have OPTIONAL piano accompaniment. Check the Levels for them as some are easier than others, but most are sufficiently complex that your ringers will enjoy playing them. And they are very reasonably priced with permission to print the number of copies you need and with streaming permission as well.

Choraegus also has twelve-bell scores that will work well with your six ringers (and sixteen-bell arrangements if you're fortunately enough to pick up a couple of additional people)~

You can find our twelve-bell music at https://www.choraegus.com/ring/twelve-bell-music/

Happy Ringing,

Hi Wendy,

Sondra Tucker has a number of wonderful arrangements for 8 bells. They're perfect for a quartet.

Happy ringing!

With just four ringers, and 8-bell music, I transposed the appropriate bells from the center octave case by re-labeling the handles to fit the music.  That way we only had to carry the one case from the handbell room to the sanctuary.  Using 3M Post-It Rolls, the temporary labels won't leave a residue on the handles.
