Your posts reminded me of the Campanile VHS tape, which I still have and enjoy watching every so often. Thanks for the memory.

Many years ago when Campanile was still going strong Rima Greer defended
the quite different stylistic choices the group made by suggesting we
watch the movie /Strictly Ballroom/. For those not around at the time
Campanile played jazzy pieces and danced while they played. This was at
a time when most handbell groups were in churches and schools and
community groups were rather conservative -- partly because the
available repertoire was conservative.

Recently, I saw that /Strictly Ballroom/ is available for streaming. So
I watched it tonight.

The story is about Scott, the son of a couple who run a dance studio,
teaching the various ballroom dances. Scott is considered the likely
winner of the next big competition. But Scott is bored with the
restrictions of ballroom dancing and wants to add his own steps.

Thanks to Rima and people like her the available handbell repertoire is
much broader than it was when Campanile got started.

I did a YouTube search for "campanile handbells" and one video of the
group came up. It nicely shows the group's style.

Thank you, Paul for the lovely shout out. That movie really holds up, doesn't it? It's a must see!

In case you guys missed it, Roger and I just wrote a book about the collaborative creative process we engaged in while creating Campanile's shows. We are hoping it will be useful for anyone involved in a collaborative creative process, whether it's handbells or coding, or anything else.

www.turningthetablesbook.com

It's available in paperback, Kindle, or audiobook.

There's also a photo gallery and video gallery on the website as a companion to the book.

Enjoy!
