I thought the readers of Handbell L might want to know about this special time in the life of Bob and Shirley Ivey. Bob is a past president of AGEHR. This was published in the Charlotte Observer newspaper this Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Ivey Jr. will joyfully celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on May 25, 2017. The Iveys were married on May 25, 1957 at First Baptist Church in Red Bank, NJ and have lived in Charlotte since 1982. Their children are Robert A Ivey, III and wife Tracey of Bryn Mawr, PA and Karen Ivey Kelley, and her husband Chad of Charlotte. They have four grandchildren: Hayden (19) and Spencer (24) Ivey, and Georgia(9) and Margaret (6) Kelley. Bob is a church musician and organist, and although he officially retired in 1996 from the First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, he still serves as a substitute for several local churches on a regular basis. He also serves on the Alumni Board of Directors for his Alma Mater Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. Shirley worked for the US Census Bureau and has also volunteered her time for many local charities including The Symphony Guild of Charlotte and the American Red Cross. Both Bob and Shirley donate blood at the Red Cross, and Bob has donated platelets 213 times. The Iveys love traveling and have set foot in all fifty states. They also enjoy international travel having most recently visited Norway, South Africa, and China. Their love for each other is eclipsed only by the their love of family.
If you know Bob and Shirley and want to send a note of congratulations, their email is ring...@aol.com They are not members of Facebook.
I grew up ringing and singing with Bob at First Presbyterian Tower Hill, so I feel like one of their "children."
Happy Anniversary, Bob and Shirley!
