Hello HAND community!

The Abernethy Elementary PTA DEI Chair has coordinated a walk to school tomorrow morning 11/14/25, joining in a nationwide event to honor Ruby Bridges. Our regular bike buses will run slightly earlier, on their regular routes, and will congregate with students and families on foot at the Ladd’s Circle around 7:30am. Bikers will be walking their bikes, joining in a community walk to school (around the circle to Elliott then down to Birch.)

I’ve been informed news media will be there joining in and covering the event. Our students have made signs to carry, there will be a short speech sharing the story of Ruby’s courage and a really special feeling of belonging and inclusivity in our community. We invite you to participate!

Please be aware this may affect morning commutes in Ladd’s tomorrow, 11/14/25.

Below you will find the announcement we have shared with our school.

We hope to see some of you there!
