i just texted this to alot of people, but i can actually type
something intelligible here:

When I first got into my apartment, my OTE was trying to get me to
pick my 5 days off. When I told him there was no way I could know
which days I would need, He told me to know for today. I gave him 2
days I wanted off for, and he wants the other 3 tomorrow. Really,
he's trying to get me to take from my other 20 days off so I don't
come in all of August. That crap just ain't happening.

SOOOOooo,

If anybod has ANY ide of some days they want off and want to do
something with other gaijin, lemme know.

Does he know your schedule with the KEC? If you went today and you're
going tomorrow, then there are only 5 more days before the 19th when
you're not doing KEC stuff.

Just to let you know, they can't MAKE you take off. There will always be
at least 1 or 2 teachers at the school (Usually Kyoto or Kocho-sensei
and the "Nichiban" - the teacher in charge that day). Some teachers will
be there because club activities are still going on during the summer .
You might not have an English teacher there, but there will be SOMEONE.
Next week might be a little sparse since most teachers take off for the
Obon holidays, but nothing says you have to take your days off then, too.

If you do go in, take a book or Japanese to study or something.

But, hey, this is a good time to do something if you so desire!

actually, i think it's 8, unless I've missed something. this is why i don't have a problem showing up. I'll go over japanese, or i'll sort thru the pile of crap in my desk, or hey, i might even make some flash cards.

I know that they can't MAKE me take off, but he's pushing real hard for it. I'm gonna take the 5 and chill out a bit, but I don't like that he's pushing for me to dig into my other 20 days.

i've decided i'm taking off 19,20,23,24,25. It'll be nice block off before job training starts. assuming they'll ok it. though, with the way my ote fixates on this, i dunno why they wouldn't.

Just want to say: those are your days off. So you need to put your foot down. Don't be a sucker!! I let myself be talked into using 2 and a half days when I first started that I didn't really want to use. So uncool! There's plenty of prep you could do, like PowerPoint, games, lesson topics, english board, etc.
