Hey all.
My 2nd year OTE has asked me to put together some things for a
halloween lesson. I know it's early to do, but this is where he
happens to be in the text. It's going to focus on pages 48+49 in the
One World text for 2nd years. I'm going to cut and paste what I've
slapped together at the bottom of this post. I want to cover 2
things: Trick or Treating, and the grammar point "have to / don't have
to". I like things I put together to be on the silly/odd side (go
figure), so offbeat humor is a good thing here.
What I wrote is for the alt and ote to do in class, but that may or
may not fly with all my teachers. if we put together a mini movie of
alts trick or treating, we could have something to bust out on a dvd
and slap everyone's name on it. Please lemme know if you're
interested so we can work out logistics.
...it's also a good excuse to dress up in something ridiculous for a
little while.
Halloween Skit
(The doorbell rings. OTE opens the door.)
ALT: Trick or treat!
OTE: OOOoohhh! You're very scarey! What are you supposed to be?
(ALT is dressed as Darth Vader)
ALT: I am a princess! I am not scary! I am pretty!
(Breathing sounds come from mask)
OTE: What was that noise?
ALT: I have to use this mask to breathe.
OTE: I don't have to use a mask to breathe.
ALT: You are very lucky.
(OTE puts candy in ALT's bag.)
ALT: Thank you!
(OTE closes the door)
Grammar Point: Have to / Don't have to
Props: Darth Vader mask, bag, candy, doorbell sound effect.
