I have been expiementing in the x86 for quite a few years now, and I
want to move on to something a bit more interesting/ I have an offer for
a : SS2-40Mhz, 64MB, 1GB HDA, CG-6, T-4kybd, OS-2.5.1, 19" 365-1112 the
labeled cost is $245 US. I want to kow if this is worth the cost, just
to toy around with? And are ther any places that sell used suns? I don't
really care what kind it is, as long as it has a say 16 or 8 bit GUI.
Also are there any other Sun groups that I have missed, not for posting,
but that I would be able to lurk in?
Thanks
LHF

Not sure if it answers your question but we are still running an ISP with
3000-5000 users on each machine. Full web, ftp, email, everything. All on
Sparc2's

Lately we considered upgrading but I decided I would rather have seperate
servers than putting all our eggs in one bigger machine. Except for
upgrading a couple to Sparc4's (news and authentication/dns servers) I think
we will stay 2's

I have two Sparcstation IPX units which are about equivilent in power to a
Sparcstation 2 excpet the case is a different shape. I find them to be
quite usefull. One is my webserver (216.62.96.125) and the other is my
fileserver. However, I'll be honest about the worth of the machine now.
First of all, the $245 is not a bad price.. But I'm willing to bet the
mouse and keyboard are probably worth more money than the unit itself. The
monitor for sure. I think I paid $30 each for my IPX units and ended up
paying more than that for their respective peripherals... not to even
mention the 17" monitors.

I'm interested into buying refurbished/used ss5/ss10 and ss20 within
anywhere in north america, if anyone has good spots and connections for
refurbished sparc/sun hardware please let me know :)

Thank you for your time.
