I have no problems pulling from gmx. But there seems to *exist* a kind
of a problem, as currently some other users in the german newsgroups
report similar trouble.

My config:

Forced Authentification: None
Auth. Methods (the tiny button with only period as text): nothing unchecked

Port: 995
SSL: Allway use SSL on secure port
SSL-Method: automatic
Verification: Allways use certificate [1]

I just currently changed "Configuration => General settings => SSL =>
[_] SSL v3", as this protocol seems to be unsecure.

[1] but I'm sure that point doesn't relate to your problem

HTH

BTW: Did you maybe recently update your OpenSSL version or simillar?
Some of those asking for help mentioned that they did. I'm not sure
whether it's just an accident or has any meaning.

Yes, the strings have changed sometime in between. but generally, you
should use the current version, which is 2.1.0.1538.

@Alfred: Could you please post announcements to the english groups too.

Only a german site:

<http://hamster-classic.de/download:download>

Changes_de.txt in the Packet. The Changes_en.txt is only partial translated
- sorry.

Steps to update:

If you use an older version, first update to the latest stable (2.1.0.11).

Check and repair any error messages in the log file.

Then unpack the -so-called- alpha version (2.1.0.1538) into the same Directory.

That's it.

About the GMX-problem: You need an actual OpenSSL-DLL as well.

That should do it.

Some Servers require a fixed SSL-Method (TLSv1). Only then select a fixed
SSL-method in the SSL-Settings of that server. GMX does not so let the
Setting on automatic.

If you are afraid about the SSLv3 security issue, you can disable SSLv3 in Menu:

Hamster -> Settings -> General -> /SSL\
[ ] SSLv3
[X] TLSv1

But some Servers might still require SSLv3.

Another idea: Could it be possible that you use certificates, and are
you using Avast as anti virus programm, too?

Still V2.1.0.11, isn't it? Looks like an (hamster internal) should-be
error message without propper text. Maybe Alfred can identify where in
the code such a phrase can be found (I can't find no reason that this
message shound have been removed in between).

Yes, this is a known side effect on some systems. Coursed by a Patch making
the Folder-Name Case-sensitive. Don't know why it doesn't occur on every
system. I myself can't reproduce it.

Solution:

- Stop Hamster
- Open Hamster.ini in an Editor
- Search a entry named "LastDir"
- remove that line
- Save Hamster.ini

Done.

It is a normal System-INI-File. So: yes, ; is prefered, but # will work also.
