Is there a way to see all the newsgroups available on a remote server?
I looked through each menu item twice before trying to get the list of
newsgroups using a newsreader and to my suprise they were there. I
figured the newsgroups would only show up to the newsreader after I had
configured them inside Hamster.
What exactly is a News Pull seeing that all the remote newsgroups are
visible even when a pull has not been configured?
After adding a group using my newsreader I was able to start the news
task in hamster and Hamster then downloaded the group... So I don't see
the point in adding pulls manually when I can't even see the list in
Hamster but I'm thinking I must be confused on what a pull is in the
first place...
The group Hamster did download for me only contained 100 headers. I
noticed there was a setting to download the oldest 100 (-100). I
changed the number to 1000 to download the newest 100 but it didn't-
perhaps because it was the first pull it used the "empty group" setting?
Either way, how can I reset this and get it to pull the other 900 that I
wanted? Do I need to delete the group and start over (if so how is that
done) ?
Sorry for asking so many questions but the documentation has really left
me hanging here!!
Thanks,
David

I do not know how to get them easily by HControl, but I would suggest to
go into hamster/Server/<name>/groups.txt. In Hamster Classic this is
easily found in Menu, but do not start both Hamster flavors at the same
time!!!

This is a feature of Hamster Playground, it can auto-pull. You can
switch this feature off. But I do not remember where to do so.

Yes, indeed.

In Hamster Classic there is a possibility to do it easily.
If you delete the group you won't pull those old messages again,
because their IDs are saved in history seperately.
MFG, HTH!
