U.S. Metric Association to present this Thursday at the WWV ARC meeting

The WWV ARC monthly meeting is this Thursday, August 27, 6pm MDT.

Since HamSCI is all about making measurements, the WWV ARC thought this group would be interested in the talk happening on Thursday at our monthly meeting.  Please feel free join us!

This month the presentation will be given by Dr. Don Hillger, WD0GCK, President of the US Metric Association, covering many aspects of measurement standards, US and World acceptance and usage, and its importance in nearly all commercial and private life. 

Did you ever wonder why we discuss bands and wavelength in Meters, and why we still choose to discuss antenna length in feet?  What other areas might we be a bit arbitrary about when it comes to which measurement unit we use, and does it simplify or complicate our measurement process?  

Don will be discussing the Metric System, its promotion as an international standard which simplifies all measurement throughout the world, and how the US Metric Association works toward this end.
