First Post, hello world

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, however, I earned my license and joined the group a month ago. I am a student at UT Knoxville and a member of the UT Amateur Radio Club. 

Is there a calendar for regular meeting times in the group? Additionally, I would like to conduct an investigation from UTARC's station. I want to investigate radio propagation during the March 3rd Lunar eclipse. Is it possible to do this with one station or would I need multiple stations? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated and I am excited to learn from y'all.

Good morning and welcome Alyssa, As has already been stated you will find this to be a very welcoming and very diverse group all with a common purpose to advance science knowledge and help others to grow . I am one of the "laypeople" or non scientists in the group. I really enjoy writing and public speaking and have tried to use that to promote and support our mission. If you have not already, you will find good individual information on the radio operators on QRZ.com, a good way to learn about each other. As far as meetings you will find all of that on our website and can find those meetings that meet your interests.

Hello Alyssa - Please take a look at hamsci.org/get-involved for the list of regularly scheduled HamSCI Zoom telecons.    Also, others have noted, the hamsci home page (hamsci.org) is a great starting point for your explorations.

I don't know that there is a body of knowledge here regarding radio wave propagation and lunar eclipses, mainly because it is the sun which influences the ionosphere.

You will note that most of our investigations involve at least two stations, but more often hundreds or thousands of stations, when we look at PSKReporter and WSPR data.   While one station can be an effective receiver, it is hard to draw conclusions from a single data point.
