Just an FYI on the 2 August 2027 solar eclipse ...a long one in totality and somewhat of a travel challenge!  But time to plan for a possible SEQP...

Ed WX2R,
Yes while travel is involved, there are some really great cities across north Africa after you depart southern Spain and Gibraltar... but Sana'a... hmmm.

Hangin' with the Houthis!

Getting serious about this, how are we going to get significant amateur radio operations south of the eclipse zone given the geopolitical realities of that region?

Safety first.
Might we enlist the help of the State Department to have their HF stations across the continent participate in this event?

Thoughts?

As an aside, we'll be hosting a big solar eclipse party down here in Dunedin for the July 22, 2028 event. We're hoping to have more wspr systems up and running around the country for the event, while working closely with the space weather research group based at Otago University.

Tūhura Otago Museum (and Dunedin in general) always welcome visitors! Our peninsula has some spectacular viewing points.
