Save the Date(s) - HamSCIence Zoom Sessions Return

HamSCI is planning for another  season of HamSCIence Zoom presentations.  Four presentations are lined up for the remainder of 2026, always on the second Thursday of each month, 4PM (eastern US time zone). Dropping a few hints for now...the planned topics include:

• September: How does HamSCI achieve its goal of being an 'open source' scientific community, and what tools, such as GitHub, do we use to make that a reality?
  
• October: The ionosphere's response to solar flares
• November: Costas Arrays - This ins and outs of these little known mathematical constructs, how and why are they being applied to studies of the ionosphere.
• December: HF Channel sounding - What techniques are members of the HamSCI HF Channel Sounding Working Group using to probe the bottomside of the ionosphere?

Details will be released as they come into view.  And, if the community wishes to, we will continue the 'open nets' in the weeks between the presentations, for discussion of any and all topics related to HamSCI:  People, projects, questions, and, maybe, a few answers!

P.S.  Mary Lou West and I are always open to suggestions for future presentations.  We welcome speakers from the HamSCI Community,  as well as others who can speak on science, engineering, mathematics, amateur radio;  topics broadly related to HamSCI's scientific interests.  We are planning for 2027, January through April and possibly, May.

Gary - are these presentations going to continue in 2027 on a monthly basis? I am planning to ask the USRA CEO (Dr. Talaat, whom my wife used to work under while at NOAA) to see if he can find the time to give us the latest solar physics efforts at USRA, and how they may tie into the efforts of the HamSci group. He is an extremely well versed solar physics scientist with many years experience in the field. Thanks

That sounds like a great idea. Ask Dr. Talaat if he can talk on Jan 14, Feb 11, Mar 11, Apr  8, or May 13.
