Saw the aurora photos posted on the HamSci list and thought since
we're in a very rare (for north central Florida) low
temperature and low humidity environment
(about 32 °F and dew point at 27 °F), maybe we could see some of the aurora in Florida.
Went outside and thought the northern sky
looked a tiny bit red in the aged Mark I eyeball, so I used my cell phone (Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra) to make some long (about 10 seconds?) exposures
held by hand.
Lo and behold, we actually saw the aurora this far south (29° 50' north latitude).
All photos
taken 0405 UTC on
12 Nov 2025 from High Springs,
Florida
(about 20 miles northwest of Gainesville).

Dave,
Great stuff! We are seeing the same here in northern Florida (EM80jh) with the naked eye.
