Greetings, All - We have a speaker and a few discussion points on Thursday's agenda (Oct 3, at 4PM Eastern in the US).  Zoom details follow.

- Nick Hall-Patch, VE7DXR, will be sharing MW (medium wave) observations from the April 8, 2024 eclipse.  Nick has stories to tell of two continents - North America and Europe.

- Our friends and supporters at NASA are preparing for the AGU Conference in December.  They've asked HamSCI to provide stories, findings, visuals and have asked 'what's next?'.  All could be presented at AGU panels, in NASA-produced articles or videos.  Let's talk about what we should submit, in the hopes of putting our most interesting and scientifically relevant activities forward.

- HamSCI will soon be publishing its first quarterly newsletter - and we are looking to give it a memorable name.  Please give it some thought and toss your ideas into the proverbial ring.  A few Ideas to provoke some thought:

Greetings from dark-sky NE Arizona - I hope to get a peek at some of the fireworks, but we are pretty far south.

How about the HamSCI Sky?  Catchy, that, if I do say so myself :-)

Whatever is selected, I think the name should emphasize our very, even ultra, wide interests and coverage of all things above ground at frequencies from dc to literally daylight.  Maybe the HamSCI DC to Daylight Review/Forum/Spectrum/??? would be good.  "Journal" implies possibly more rigor than is warranted and might discourage informal non-academic contributions which really keep things interesting in HamSCI.

Keep a lookout overhead - X9.anythings are interesting!

Wow, we have quite a list to review:  Well over 30 have been submitted.  I've tried to group them logically, with minor edits, especially in the case of similar submissions.

We should remain open to last minute entries - in case someone has been holding their idea for the call today.

Perhaps, on today's call, we can pick a favorite from each group and then let the Newsletter Committee make the final choice after they've had time to ponder the possibilities???  (The two columns, Y/N/M, stand for Yes/No/Maybe, in case you want to print and mark your 'ballot' before the meeting.)

Making Waves: The HamSCI Newsletter

You could substitute "Journal", "Digest", etc. for "Newsletter".
