I purchased 3 GRAPE 1 boards from the OSHPark link, and I'm looking at the BOM now. The SA612 part is out of production, is the solution grabbing some parts from Hamfests? I understand someone is building an all through hole version, what is their solution?

Dave,

I believe that Dan's Small Parts and Kits still has the SA612 and
variants, both SOIC-8 and PDIP-8 packages. The web site looks like it
walked straight out of Netscape Navigator, but he is a legitimate,
functioning business that I've dealt with in the past.

Good luck and 73,
