Hi, HamSCI!
As you well know, being an active radio amateur is an important part of being able to do the science we are doing. Many of the universities that are part of this collaboration have active collegiate amateur radio clubs that are vital to introducing new young
people to our work and keeping the activity vibrant.
Here at the University of Scranton, we have the
beautiful W3USR station that was installed two years ago, funded largely by ARDC. We are a highly active club that regularly participates in public service/emcom drills, contests, special events, and holds weekly public station hours. We are actively teaching
and licensing our physics and engineering students, as well as members of the local Lackawanna Blidd Association. We are open not only to the university students, but also community volunteers not otherwise affiliated with the university.
We recently created a new email list specifically for people who would like to be kept apprised of W3USR activities, regardless of you association with the university. So, I invite all of you to join our new W3USR-community list:
I hope that you join, and thank you for your support of HamSCI, amateur radio, and W3USR!
