I received the HDD update & instructions today. The first issue is that all four USB ports are in use on the Grape2 pi; one for HDD, GPS, HF Receiver. The fourth is for the keyboard & mouse (dongle). Not an issue for me, I used a USB hub to gain the extra port.

When I listed the directory G2DATA was in red so I went to the File Manager and remounted the drive & it then appeared in Blue. Proceeding to the G2COPY instruction it began copying files to the USB drive. The files thus far are dated 4/7/2024. The instructions state that the process is saving 10 days of data, that insinuated to me the 10 prior calendar days of data but I’m making a presumption that it’s 10 days prior, during & after the eclipse event of 4/8/2024. That wasn’t clear initially and caused a bit of a panic. Otherwise the backup & verify is proceeding as described as best I can tell at this moment. I will check it in the morning. -Chuck Smyder KK4HP

There are 10 days of significant interest for research that we are backing up before shipment:

April 7,8,9. Eclipse
May 9.10,11,12,13,14,15  Solar Activity

I've discovered from testing that the backup time to the 128GB Thumb Drive can take from 4.5 - 7.5 hours (depends
on how cranky the thumb drive is).  Just follow the directions closely - all of the copied data is verified before shipping
via the script.

Node 0012 has been updated and the HDD sent off to Bill Engelke in the packing and with the label provided.  The system is happily measuring 5, 10, and 15 MHz WWV.  Some of the USB drive backup files were not present because the system was trying to restart and the HDD did not mount as expected.  So everything had to wait until I was at the station to get the HDD going again.

The only nit in the instructions was that in the sans-serif font, what turned out to be lower-case LL was not at all obvious but I eventually figured that out without accidentally clobbering something by mistake :-)
