Hello HamSCI-Eclipse members. Happy New Year!

We will be having a HamSCI meeting at the New Jersey Institute of Technology very soon… February 23-24, 2018. Many hams and scientists will be coming to discuss results of 2017 Eclipse Experiments and other ham radio-science related topics. The logistics are moving along, and we now have prices set and hotel rooms available.

Total meeting cost will be $125, which includes breakfast and lunch on both Friday and Saturday, and a very nice banquet at the Iberia Peninsula Restaurant on Friday night. Phil Erickson, W1PJE, will be the banquet speaker.

The hotel is the Robert Treat Hotel (http://www.rthotel.com/) in Newark, NJ. Please call the hotel at 973-622-1000 and reference the group by name “HamSCI Workshop” (Group #1219) to make reservations. The NJIT nightly rate of $109 plus 15.125% tax will be available for a King or Queen room reserved under the block.

If you are flying, please fly into the Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). There is easy transportation to the hotel and NJIT. If you are driving, we will provide parking for you in our parking deck.

We are working on the registration and abstract website. It will be up soon. We are still looking for more presenters, so please think about what you may like to show.

We are also still looking for speakers. I expect the typical presentation to be between 20-30 minutes long. Please let me know if you are interested in presenting.

Thanks and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

73,
Nathaniel W2NAF

Hi, HamSCI-Eclipse members,

I am pleased to announce that registration for the 2018 HamSCI Workshop is now open! Please visit http://hamsci.org/hamsci-workshop-2018 for details.

The workshop will be held February 23-24, 2018 at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ and seeks to bring together the amateur radio community and professional scientists. Anyone interested in this workshop is invited to join. This year, the workshop will focus on results of the 2017 Great American Eclipse ham radio ionospheric experiments (including SEQP results) and the development of a Personal Space Weather station.

Do you have something to present? We are especially looking for speakers with presentations showing analysis of 2017 Great American Eclipse ionospheric observations, ideas and proposals for the design and implementation of a personal space weather station. We will also accept other presentations related to amateur radio and science. Presentations will likely be between 20 to 30 minutes long. If you would like to present, please e-mail me at ham...@hamsci.org by February 15, 2018.

Thanks and 73,
