Hello Eclipse Watchers and HamSCI members - One of HamSCI’s partners, the ARRL (American Radio Relay League) is interested in creating a short video featuring hams operating in or near the path of totality on April 8th.  Can you recommend a group of hams who might qualify?

Ideally, they’d like to show a group of amateurs set up in a public location (Field Day or POTA style, but indoors would be OK), participating in one of HamSCI’s FoEIS events (SEQP, GSSC, etc.).

The intended audiences are both the ham radio community and the general public, to show how hams participate in such events as citizen scientists.

The project is still in the ideation stage - nothing definite has been decided.  Identifying possible groups and locations is the first step towards making a final decision.

If you know of such a group operating in or near the path of totality, please contact me by hitting Reply to Author button below with the details:

  • Name of group (whether a formal group, such a club, or an informal group gathering for the event)
  • Where (city, state)
  • How many participants (approximate)
  • Any information that might helpful to the selection process (ie will they be set up at a natural history museum, planetarium, partnering with an astronomy club, school or even at a park).
  • Contact information
