Hello friends-
I hope everyone is doing well, and that excitement is beginning to build. As you may have noticed, the weather is beginning to brighten (albeit belatedly), the crickets are starting to chirp, and if one listens closely the sounds of golf clubs clattering can be heard as they are brought out of storage. We may have skipped straight over spring from a temperature perspective this year, but the passage of time continues on unabated. The calendar does not lie -- Memorial Day weekend, and with it the summer, are officially on the horizon.
So - get out there today, make sure you have all your supplies, maybe some new clothes, who knows. Sunglasses, shoes, surfboards, etc. If you unsure about any purchases, just keep in mind that you are stimulating the economy through any capital expenditures. Also, probably not a bad idea to get some sleep to encourage a more well rested status for the big kickoff weekend. I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that it's unlikely any of us will be getting that much sleep while out east. As Wiz Khalifa said, "No drivin, no sleepin, live it up like it's the weekend".
Anyways, as a small diversion from the building excitement as this week passes, a couple small things to consider:
- First, when are you heading out there? I know a few of us intend on going out Thursday evening (hence the title of this email) - Katie, Amanda, Chris, Tom, me potentially (although I'm hopefully about to become an uncle, so may be in Chicago with my sister depending on the timing of that). So if that option is of interest to you, then feel free to socialize those plans.
- Secondly, if you want to bring any GUESTS for this weekend, PLEASE LET Katie, Amanda, and/or me know. They would need to pay $275 per weekend, there are no exceptions to this rule. Guests can compensate the house through multiple methods - Chase QuikPay or check in advance would be preferred, but in the absence of that, we will rough you up to pay with cash or credit card (that Square app) on site. All the money directly goes into a joint house account, which Katie, Amanda and I have access to. Funds from weekend guests go toward purchasing booze to be shared by housemembers, although you probably should not expect that such purchases of alcoholic beverages will fully cover all your drinking needs. The current list for the weekend is below - as of now we are at a total of 15 participants, which would be crowded, but somewhat less of a shitshow than July 4 will be. Also, if you are on the below list and will not be attending, please do let us know as well. We are neither your father nor your mother, but an effort to avoid any instances of missing persons, it would be helpful for this list to be accurate.

- Third, hopefully through the two happy hours that Katie and Amanda have organized most of you folks have met each other. If not though, you are encouraged to fire out an email to the group. Introduce yourself or whatever. There should be no strangers here. Or if you are feeling a bit shy, feel free to stay silent... however, I don't think quietness is typically viewed as a virtue in the Hamptons.
- Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, take a moment to think about activities. I am going to throw out a few options for consideration, and then later this week can distribute a tentative itinerary based on feedback that has been received.
Drinks at the house for those there Thursday night? Or a stroll down Route 25 to the Stephen Talkhouse.
Beach during the day on Friday? Weather does not look great, but something to consider.
Talkhouse Friday night seems like a fairly likely outcome.
Saturday I believe should include drinks out on our deck. It also happens to be my birthday, so day drinking will be encouraged to some degree.
Saturday night I would expect we'd head over to sample from some of the bars in Montauk? Sloppy Tuna, Ruschmeyer's, Surf Lodge, etc...
Other options for daytime activies - golf, tennis, surfing, running, walking, not working... I'm targeting Sunday for golf at Montauk Downs, if anyone wants in let me know.
A few of us discussed going out fishing one day. I was told that this could be a better option early in the summer before it gets too warm, as the fish get sluggish.
Grilling is nearly certain to occur on multiple occasions. I'm thinking steaks one night. If you're a vegetarian, that's cool too, I dunno is it possible to grill tofu or hummus?
Some friends of mine have a home in downtown Amagansett that is reported to have a rather large pool. So a pool party will probably happen one day.
I plan to cook brunch one day. There will be eggs and baon, and more. Oh, and there will undoubtedly be bloody marys (BMs for short).
The house has a couple bikes that could be used, although I have not seen these yet so more detailed characteristics are as of yet unconfirmed.
At this point I may have passed the word quota at which people continue reading, so I will cut myself off. But others are encouraged to contribute further ideas, of which many exist.
So let us know on guests, respond with any plans or ideas on the weekend, reach out to us if you have any questions, and most importantly -- Get Excited.
