Here is the watering schedule. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DAYS WHERE NO ONE
IS ISNGED UP (And there are MANY( ARE POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS FOR
OUR YOUNG PLANTS AND SEEDLINGS! Don't assume someone else will water,
please step up! Several people are leaving town in the first couple of
weeks of June, so we really need all our members to put in their
share.

The schedule for the end of may/beginning of june has been transferred
to a whiteboard calendar nailed to the garage adjacent to the church
plot. There is also a laminated map of the church garden. There will
(by Sunday) also be a another whiteboard with the map for changes in
the garden/problem areas, or other notes to communicate with each
other. There is no official map for the spanish house garden, but
there it is a little more obvious what is planted and many plants have
markers. Remember that anyone at anytime is welcome to go over and
check on the gardens, even if you're not scheduled! In fact, please
do!
Some important notes on watering:
1. It is best to water early in the morning or late at night. Watering
during midday in the summer, all the water will dry up before it gets
a chance to soak in.
2. In general, keep in mind that you are watering the ROOTS of the
plant not the leaves.
3. That being said, water profoundly intentionally, aiming directly at
the roots NOT the leaves. Wet leaves attract diseases!
4. Try not to broadcast spray, as this wastes water and waters more
than just the plants (i.e. WEEDS). See number three.
5. Broadcast spraying is unavoidable however at the Spanish house plot
where there is only one hose that doesn't reach the plot entirely. Go
to the full length of the hose, then set the nosel to the most
powerful spray: the spray will reach everything this way.
6. Remember to unattach the HUMC plot hose from the church and put it
in an aisle of the plot. Cars drive through that alley and we don't
want to ruin the hose!
7. The nosel of the church plot hose is broken. You have to press the
bronze-ish button in order to release the water spray. If anyone has
an extra nosel, feel free to attach it, otherwise watering there might
be a bother until we can get a new one. If anyone wants to/is able to
spring for a new one, go for it!
8. Obviously if it's pouring, you're off the hook. But if it is just
overcast, best to go over to check on moisture.
9. Sometimes if it has been cooler/overcast, plants will not need to
be watered as freqently as two times a day. If you are scheduled,
though, please go over to check moisture in the soil.
Happy Gardening and thank you EVERYONE for your work!
The gardens look great!
