Hello,
Earlier in the week on 8th Conc. West and west of Westover Road, there were 9 Purple Finches mixed with a few Cedar Waxwings. Other birds seen or heard at this location…………..A pair of Common Ravens, Virginia Rail (heard), and Sandhill Crane, (heard) sounded like it was calling from a far off field as it continued to call for some time.
Courtcliffe Park yesterday………….Five Ospreys flying around the traditional nesting site, which is atop a cell tower set in a field between Courtcliffe Park and Centre Road to the east. A pair of Bluebirds continue to try and choose a nest box, and the male was seen offering a tasty caterpillar (probable Cutworm) to the female. The Savannah Sparrows have finally arrived, and there were rumors of a Screech Owl taking up residence in the Wood Duck nesting box.
Not much going on at Joe Sam’s, but I did spot two high flying Broadwings, and there was a lone male Bluebird hanging around the fence line of the soccer pitch on the north east side.
Social distancing was observed at all times…..Cheers…………T.
