Andrew Don has texted to advise that upon his return to the canal this afternoon, after seeing the grebe alive this morning, he has found it expired and floating lifeless near the pier where the ducks are fed.

Folks, if we can get the carcass of the grebe we can arrange to get it to Mark Peck this weekend, i.e. we don't have to wait until December. I'm sure the ROM would be VERY pleased to get this bird.

Len and Andrew advise that the bird is in water far enough offshore that waders are required. Does anyone have waders and/or a long pole who could go to Desjardins and help?

If the bird is picked up please contact me and I'll connect with Mark.

Thanks all.

Mike

Went back at 1pm hoping the grebe would have it's head up as when saw at 10am it was just swimming with its head down. But found the grebe with its head in the water moving with the current, then the body went under some roots of a tree by the bank. Photo earlier at 10am seems to have something wrong with its head
